A few weeks ago I was invited to a restaurant tasting at Corlette NY in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn. If you know me, you know that I am always looking for new restaurants to frequent so I was excited to try this new place.

So here is a little about the restaurant

Corlette NY Restaurant & Lounge was a dream that owner Bernard James had for a number of years which materialised in honor of his wife Corlette. The restaurants motto Eat Love Live, is one shared by them both before she transitioned. Young in age, but Corlette Restaurant & Lounge intend to build a reputation that is worthy of praise from its patrons and critics.

The restaurant has a great intimate setting. It is a cool place to go and watch the game and grab a bite to eat with friends. They also have a great lounge area in the back where you can host events separate from the restaurant. Some nights there is a DJ and that definitely added to the great atmosphere. I would categorize the food as West Indian Fusion if since its a nice blend of different flavors.

For the tasting we had a choice of two appetizers, one entree, and a complimentary drink. My brother from another mother, Kel Spencer, was one of the hosts for the event so I asked him what his favorites were. He said the curry shrimp taco and the fillet of fish taco and I am glad I listened to him. I am not exaggerating when I say this but that fillet of fish taco was probably the best fish taco I ever had in my life, and I’ve had quite a few fish tacos to make this judgment.

For my entree I went with the jasmine rice and beans, side salad, and marinated pulled pork. The pulled pork was well seasoned and very juicy. Usually I would have asked for the hot sauce to add flavor, but I did not need to do that with this meal.

For my complimentary drink I went with one of my favorites, the Sangria, and you can never go wrong with sangria. I also had a rum punch later on that evening and let’s just say that the bar tenders have a nice hand lol.

I would definitely recommend visiting Corlette NY. I will be back very soon for some of those fish tacos and that rum punch!

This restaurant is known for its fabulous dishes and great tasting cuisine. Upon arrival at the restaurant I was already impressed with the beautiful décor and lovely wall art work. A lovely and very friendly staff member escorted me into the lounge where the event was being held. The host of this spectacular event was none other than event planner Ms. Amber Turner. The Corlette menu was filled with delicious entrees such as their famous appetizers: Curry Shrimp Tacos Jerk Chicken Tacos, and Fish Fillet tacos many other flavors. For the main courses some of the guests had Curry Chicken, Marinated Pulled Pork, and Seared Salmon. I had the Served Salmon served with peas and brown rice and it was amazing. For dessert the guest we treated to cupcakes of different tasty flavors created by Victors of NY. So if your ever in the New York area stop by and have a delicious Curry Shrimp Taco, a Seared Salmon and top it off with a cool Sangria drink at Corlette NY Restaurant & Lounge.
