So you say you want to color-block for the winter? Well this sweater from ASOS is just what you need. The two-toned sweater has a crew neckline and the raspberry and blue contrasting colors would make any pair of black pants or a black skirt pop.

You can wear the sweater exactly how the model is wearing it with a pair of black pants and if you want to add a touch of glam, just put on a black faux fur vest and you will have a luxe look instantly.

Not only do I love the color of this sweater, I also love the price. For $26 (plus shipping) this baby could be yours.

Click here to purchase it is available from Size 4-14

So a few months ago I was contacted by one of my blogging buddies Kimberlee of I Have a Degree in This about BlumeGirl.com- a company that personalizes pretty much anything you can think of. From onesies for babies to shirts for dogs, Blume will have everyone calling your name.

You can personalize lingerie as well. Remember Valentine’s Day is right around the corner so this would be a pleasant surprise for the boo lol.

Celebs like Angelina Jolie, Victoria and David Beckham, Gwen Stefani, Nicole Richie, Mariska Hargitay, Jessica Simpson and many others all love Blume’s creative styles. Blume’s can also be found in stores nationwide and also abroad, so all of my international readers, you can get down with Blume too!

So I was completely lost when I had to come up with something for my patch. I am not too big on random people calling me by my name in the middle of the street so I didn’t get ‘Janique.’ Check out my patches from BlumeGirl.com

I chose “HGB” when I wear his vest people will ask what does it stand for and it will be the perfect time to promote my blog. Genius right? Well maybe not genius, but I think it is a good marketing strategy.

So head over to BlumeGirl.com and design your own personalized patches.

From classic tailored looks like Mary J. Blige and Rachel Roy to pops of color like Jessica White the featured ladies are bringing it.Tiffany Hines look is perfect for a day like today with all of the rain. She gives a chic yet comfortable look. Kelly Rowland adds the perfect element of color to brighten up the grey dress. These looks are simple but adds the right elements of class and color to make them all pop.

Now you all know that I absolutely  love and adore Michelle Obama. She is the epitome of all things classy. She is refined, yet down to earth. She carries herself with such dignity and grace that she has transformed many people’s opinions about Africa-Americans, well African-American women in particular.

According to an article written by Nathalie Dolivo, we (African-American women) were clueless when it came to style. According to the article that has been removed she states:

“In this America led for the first time a black president, the chic has become a plausible option for a community so far pegged to its codes [of] streetwear”

She also states the Obamas dress “white” but still maintain their “blackness” with symbols.
Is this woman serious? So before Michelle Obama we were just running around in Baby Phat and Apple Bottoms? Or were we just wearing burlap sacks? So I’m guessing we had no clue what an A-Line skirt was or how to mix prints, or how to rock a cardigan and pencil skirt in complimentary colors? Or  was it that we were just rocking our Jordan Heels, Timbs, and Air Force Ones, that we never saw a classic black pump or a kitten heel? J. Crew wasn’t one of our go to stores huh? Let me guess you only saw us coming out of Dr. Jays and Jimmy Jazz?
Well Nathalie Dolivo, I’m sure now you regret writing that article, but we don’t need your help or validation on black style. We’ve got that covered.
People are getting more and more bold with the blatant racism. First Rihanna is a ‘niggerbitch’ now blacks didn’t have style until Michelle Obama became first lady. I hope other journalists and editors of  predominantly white publications are taking note. When one group is blatantly disrespected, what is that going to accomplish? How will that benefit your readers?
What do you all think about these controversial comments?

To help kick things off, I have created my “Rock Star” Look. I would describe my style as classic with a modern twist and a hint of romance, so this is totally out of my element.

To achieve a rock star look you definitely need something black and something leather. You also need a graphic t-shirt and some skinny jeans or jeans that have been distressed or have that grungy feel. Converses, riding boots, or combat boots are the obvious options for your feet. You can also add accessories like fingerless gloves, spiked vests,  and of course shorts with ripped fishnets. The point of the rock star look is to appear tough and edgy.

So for my version of a rock star look, I paired my burgundy skinny jeans with a graphic tank- yes my tank has pearls lol- with my leather motorcycle jacket. I paired my look with a pair of black heels. I couldn’t get rid of myself totally so I added the heels and tank with the pearls lol. Do you all like my tough face in the first pic? Lol it didn’t last very long because I love smiling!

So to enter the sweepstakes CLICK HERE! The contest ends January 28th at 11:59 pm EST!

Good luck to all those who enter!

Happy Shopping!

I love how my outfit compliments the artwork in the gallery. This look is simple yet bold. I love this blazer though. It was on sale for $15 and it is thick! Definitely a staple especially if you want to add color to your winter wardrobe. I also did a little bit of color-blocking because a little color goes a long way.
