“An Optimist stays up until midnight to  see the New Year in. A pessismist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.” Bill Vaughn

I think this is an excellent way to start off the week and bring in the new year. In 2010 we need to change our outlook on life. Instead of seeing the glass half empty see it half full. No one’s life is perfect and we need to understand that we are going to go through some “storms,” but that is a part of life. If everything was perfect how could we enjoy life? We need the bad times to appreciate and celebrate the good times.

I really hate the winter time. I hate being cold and I hate the aftermath of the snow, but I would never appreciate spring and summer if I did not  have to endure winter. That is the outlook we need to have. I have had some interesting things happen in 2009 and I definitely do not want to bring that into 2010, but this year I have learned a great deal about myself and my strength. On Thursday December 31 I am not going to countdown to say “Thank You God that year is over” I am going to say “Thank You God that a new year is beginning.” Even though we shouldn’t wait until the new year to start making changes in our lives, it is a great starting point and motivation.

I started changing my attitude and outlook  since the summer. I want to be prepared and ready for 2010 and not have to wait for the transition period of the “new me” because the “new Janique” is here. I’m just going to continue to grow and develop my character in 2010. So today I encourage to adopt an optimistic attitude. I encourage you to appreciate the good, bad, and ugly of 2009. You can start by making a list of the good, bad, and  ugly and from there, you can see what you want and need to change for the new year. It is never too late. A new year can start today at this very moment. You do not need a date or the time to change for YOU to change your attitude, start now.
