Hey ladies!

Memorial Day is quickly approaching and I know many of you have packed your bags and are on your way to Miami, Cancun, Myrtle Beach, Dominican Republic, or any other place with amazing weather during this time. Your Memorial Day outfits will probably be a bathing suit and a cover up-I know that would be my attire if I was surrounded by beautiful beaches.

In NYC it is supposed to be 80 degrees which is amazing. I just hope it does not rain! It has been raining constantly for the past few days and it’s a little depressing. So my fingers are crossed and prayers are sent up for beautiful weather this weekend. For those of us keeping it local, or any place that is not near a beach, here are some outfit ideas.

Memorial Day Outfit Ideas

Outfit #1 I love wearing skirts. Whether they are in bold bright colors, fun Aztec or tribal print, or even in great textures like lace, there is a skirt that fits everybody type and style. For Memorial Day weekend pair a solid color skirt with a fun printed blouse like the first look. Or pair a lace skirt with a simple tank. I would avoid dark/dull colors for this weekend, especially if it is sunny. Try a tank in a bright neon color. Last but not least pair a cropped top with a flowy printed skirt. If you are really bold, try mixing prints and textures.

Outfit #2 I paired some neon printed shorts with a neon top. This look is not for the faint at heart. You have to be confident to pull this look off because it will definitely draw attention. If this is too much color for you, then perhaps pairing the shorts with a white t-shirt will work. You still get the impact of the color from the shorts, but you are more toned down up top.

Outfit #3 Simple look for the t-shirt and jeans type of girl. Instead of jeans I paired the printed tank with polka dot shorts. If shorts aren’t your thing, you can easily swap them for a pair of your favorite jeans. I would rock the tank with a pair of distressed straight leg, skinny, or boyfriend jeans.

Outfit #4 Last but not least, the collection would not be complete without a dress. Here I have two simple dresses paired with statement wedges and a statement necklace. The dresses are so versatile they can be dressed up or dressed down. If you want more comfort, swap the wedges out for a flat sandal. For a sportier look, pair the dresses with some converses or other casual sneakers.

These are only a few options. Hopefully the weather holds up!

Here are other items you could wear as well: printed dresses, maxi skirts, neon skinny jeans, sheer blouses, cropped tops, rompers and jumpsuits

As promised in my previous  post, here are a few Neon inspired looks for daytime, the office and going out on the town.

Most of these looks are very BOLD and take the neon trend head on (Go bold or go home!!! ;)) however keep in mind that if you want to incorporate neon in more of a subtle way you can use neon items to compliment your look (eg. belts, bags, shoes).

These looks incorporate two big trends for this Season: Neon & Colorblocking.

How do you plan on incorporating neon into your wardrobe??

Daytime Neon

Neon colors have been one of the major trends for spring 2012 and can be seen in many fashion collections this season (especially the resort collections).  When most people think of neon colors they think of the 80’s, legwarmers, acid wash denim and spandex or cheap clothes (eeek)!   With a modern and refreshing take, neon has made a huge comeback in the past 2 years and can virtually be worn by everyone no matter what their style is.

Some designers used neon colors to create bold garments and shoes and some used neon as more of a compliment to their main colors by using neon colored accessories and neon trims on their bags and shoes — this allows for everyone to incorporate the color into their existing wardrobe, whether it just be a statement necklace, blazer or the ever so popular choice for this season, neon colored skinnies!

I can’t say I’ve ever been a huge fan of neon colors (I own a lot of black) but this season I’ve really been embracing these bright colors!   My favorite neon color for the season is hands down the florescent yellow – it compliments so many others colors and patterns and looks good on everyone!  I realize there are many of us out there who are a tad bit more reserved with wearing all those bright colors however as I stated the neon trend is for EVERYONE and if you really are loving these colors but are feeling hesitant to take the leap, start off small (try an accessory or a neon trimmed shoe)!  If you love to overdose in color, GO BLOD — color block with the neon colors and grab everyone’s attention :).

I’ve posted some photo inspiration (with some of my favorite celebs and designers)  for ALL my ladies — those who want a more refined and classic take on neon as well as those who want to step out in a bold and colorful way this summer.

Will you be partaking in the neon trend this season?  Are there any items you have your eyes set on??!

Neon outfit(s)  inspired post to come shortly!

I am a huge fan of caged booties. They are edgy and can spice up your look. What’s great about caged booties is the versatility. They can be paired with a dress for a great evening look, or a pair of jeans with a tank for a day look.

So we know that fringe and faux fur are hot trends right now, but we all know that sometimes trends can be taken to the extreme. So here we have Selita Ebanks and Angela Simmons. Both have an interesting take on this season’s hottest look. Who should rock it and who should drop it?
