In an exclusive interview with Lloyd Boston, Anna Sui reveals the essentials for all women and her best-kept style secret.

What is your best-kept personal style secret?

When you find what works for you, stick with it (bangs, red lipstick, etc.)

What are the three fashion essentials every well-dressed woman should own?

  1. A great coat. During the winter, you don’t remove your coat at a lot of places that you go. So the only thing people see is your coat.
  2. Great boots. They always make the outfit cooler.
  3. A great handbag. It tells so much abouto you

Who is the most stylis woman in existence, in your opinion? And what do you appreciate about her look?

Diana Vreeland and Marilyn Monroe. They both had their looks down.

Fashion Director Karen Kozlowski gives her expert advice in an interview with Lloyd Boston. This is what Kozlowski had to say about developing your personal style:

1. What are the three fashion essentials every well-dressed woman should own?

  1. The best-quality black suit
  2. A neutral colored cashmere sweater (turtle or crewneck)
  3. Simple black shift dress

Kozlowski says all these are timeless pieces that can be worn at least three season and can be dressed up or down, and updated with a simple switch of accessories.

2. What are the biggest mistakes women make when getting dressed?

  1. Wearing clothes that don’t fit properly! A size 8 in one brand is not necessarily going to be the same in another. Try everything on and if you’re between sizes, conserd taking the garment ot a tailor who can fit it correctly

3. If you could whisper a fail-safe style tip into the ears of women everywhere, withouot them feeling bad by hearing it, what would it be?

  • Stop trying to cover perceived body flaws with ill-fitting clothing. Of course nothing looks good on everyone but there are cuts and styles of clothing that work with everyone’s particular bodoy shapes. And it is all about using color, pattern, and proportion to give you the most streamlined, flattering silhouette. Don’t hide under oversized clothing-embellish and embrace your shape!

Ok Ladies,

I am pretty sure that most of us, if not all, have a signature look. Whether it is a certain style of clothing (for me it would be skinny jeans), our favorite shoe that we know goes with EVERYTHING, a pair of leggings, a tunic, or even a go-to makeup look, we have something that never fails us. My only problem with “signature looks” is that they can be very limiting and it is too safe. I know am always playing it “safe” but it is now time to break out of the usual. Whenever you go out people shouldn’t automatically know how your hair is going to be styled or what type of outfit you put together. Fashion is so flexible we don’t always have to play it safe, we can try something different and outrageous!  Unlike Megan Good who is pictured above it seems like whenever she hits the streets of NYC or Hollywood she has the same exact look. She is always in something black whether it is the entire outfit, just a pair of leggings, or boots and a motorcycle jacket and her infamous red lipstick. Red lipstick is not something that should be worn everyday! She looks a bit used and a lot older.

It is nice when you see a celebrity fresh faced with a neutral look. It is cool when they go for the edgy look or even the preppy look. My point is it is ok to have a signature look, but some looks are not appropriate for every occasion. So add some spice to your style and switch up your looks. Fashion is supposed to be fun so have fun and explore A FEW different looks and trends and then that signature look will be appreciated a lot more.

Spring time is almost here! Thank God, this 20 degree weather and these blizzards are not cutting it. We only have a few more weeks of winter so, in preparation for this transition into spring, I have compiled a list of winter-spring transitional must haves. The early part of a new season is very tricky and people are confused on how to dress for the weather. We go shopping attempting to expand our spring wardrobe, but we are faced with the winter items that are on sale, but it is too warm to wear the chunky sweater and the tanks and shorts are out but it is to chilly to start shedding the clothes. The key is to layer, layer, layer. So, check out the top 5 pieces you will need to make a smooth transition.

 1. Boyfriend Blazer– The boyfriend blazer is now a staple piece in any woman’s wardrobe. The menswear cut with a touch of femininity is the best combination. This blazer can be layered over a cami for the evening, a graphic print t-shirt for the day. It is the perfect layering piece for chilly nights.

2. Trench Coat- The trench is ESSENTIAL to any woman’s wardrobe. This is the perfect transitional outerwear piece because its versatility. It can be worn during the day time or evening, to work when paired with your favorite dress or pencil skirt, or on weekends paired with your favorite jeans. It is very light for the spring, but heavy enough to keep you warm. Go for bold colors or even pastels. You can never go wrong with the traditional khaki.
