The Makeup Show has to be one of the largest beauty related shows in the country, but it is the largest event in New York City. People come from all over the country to attend this two day event where special Pro Discounts are available to makeup artists and other beauty enthusiasts.

At The Makeup Show, you are also able to partake in various classed taught by top beauty experts and makeup artists in the industry. There are free seminars and this year The Makeup Show introduced the career floor where advice was given on how to make it in the beauty industry.

All of the events were held at the beautiful and spacious Metropolitan Pavillion located on W. 18th street in Manhattan. The weekend started with the blogger preview where celebrity makeup artist  James Vincent dished on his current favorite products from brands like Ruby Kisses, Kevyn Aucoin, MAC, The London Brush Company, Makeup Forever, Stila and Cinema Secrets more.

I love hearing James speak. He is so charismatic and funny. He gave detailed description of each item in the gift bags and shared why he loved them so much. Here are a few of the items

  • Kevyn Aucoin white eyeshadow pencil. It can be used as a base, highlight, or as shadow
  • Prime Color Creme Eyeshadow in Decadent
  • Pencil Sharpener

  • MACs Russian Red Matte Lipstick

  • OCC Lip Tars in Tone and Strutter. James said he sometimes uses the lip tars as blush. He also uses the lip tars to create a monochromatic look and tinted moisturizer
  • Glitter pigment in Ultra Marine and Red

As I posted before, there were many companies that were scheduled to be at IMATS. It was hard for me not to purchase something from each table. Many notable brands were represented and of course they lived up to their name. Places like Inglot, Jesse’s Girl Cosmetics, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, Stila, LA Splash Cosmetics were packed with an insane amount of people. The Inglot line was almost wrapped around the room. They had the largest station and the most customers because they were offering 30% off.

First up we have OCC- Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics.

Yesterday I went to IMATS and made quite a few purchases. I didn’t go over my budget of $100 which was really awesome. I will have my full IMATS hall later on in the week. While there, I went to about every cosmetic table with lip gloss or lip stick. I was searching for the perfect colors for spring and summer. If this was a few years ago, I would be fine with just a tinted gloss, but now I am really starting to embrace lip stick and glosses with great pigments.

I purchased items from Stila and OCC (Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics), and these colors completed my spring/summer lip color arsenal along with a few lippies from Inglot. Take a look at the colors up close with swatches.
