Last night was the historic MET Gala and this year they celebrated PUNK, from Chaos to Couture. The star studded event is always a major highlight in the entertainment industry. This is when your favorite stars pull out all of the stops because this is one of the hottest red carpets to walk. So I will give you the run down on my favorite and not so favorite looks of the night.

I can’t say that I had an absolutely favorite look but these are my Top 4 looks in no particular order

King Bey slayed the red carpet in Givenchy. The train was what made this dress! It commands attention.

Katie Holmes version of punk was really regal and angelic. I loved her train as well and the back of the dress was amazing. (Thinking of wedding dress ideas lol)

Sarah Jessica Parker is a littly quirky but it works for her. Only she could pull off a head piece like this.

Jennifer Lopez really does anything wrong in my eyes. This Michael Kors gown fits her like a glove.

Now for the looks that I loved but didn’t make my top

Anne Hathaway, Taylor Swift, Chanel Iman

Solange, Kerry Washington, Cameron Diaz had the blues and they all look amazing.

Madonna, Nicole Richie, Miley Cyrus These ladies embodied the theme of Punk: Chaos to Couture There were mixed reviews about Nicole Richie but she slayed this theme.

Lala Anthony, alicia Keys, Nicki Minaj Lala was my favorite in this bunch. I loved the sleek look of the Zac Posen dress. Alicia Keys and Nicki Minaj were a little underwhelming.

Lala was my favorite in this group. I love the color of the Zac Posen dress. Alicia Keys and Nicki weren’t terrible but a little underwhelming.

Kim Kardashian was bashed up and down social media yesterday. I felt bad for her. I tried to find the most flattering picture, but this was clearly a poor choice. She has not been winning in the fashion department during this pregnancy.

What were your favorite looks of the evening?

This weekend the Red Carpet was definitely hot. From the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards to the 2013 BET Honors. We were blessed with some great fashion. Here are a few of my favorite looks from the Red Carpet over the weekend.

2013 BET Honors

Kelly Rowland, Gabrielle Union, Ledisi

These ladies gave us high splits, plunging necklines, and sequin in shades of green and black

Brandy, Halle Berry, Alicia Keys

Body hugging gowns and high splits again. Halle Berry is loving prints this award season, and black is always classic

70th Annual Golden Globes

NeNe Leakes, Adele, Eva Longoria

Black is always a staple on any Red Carpet. NeNe and Adele look a little to frumpy for the occasion. Eva Longoria is always ready to show  of her sex appeal and she does with this black gown.

These ladies have a case of the blues. I love Rosario’s dress, but wish the neckline wasn’t so high. Nicole Richie looks elegance in her blue lace dress, and Lucy Liu went bold with this floral ball gown

Jessica Alba, Gabby Douglas

It always great to see a pop of color on the red carpet and both Jessica Alba and Gabby Douglas went bold in peach and neon.

Jennifer Lopez, Halle Berry, Kerry Washington

My winners of the night! I love the neutral tones on all gowns. I think Halle Berry’s print is striking! The hint of purple was an amazing touch. I’m loving the sheer nude looks from Jennifer Lopez and my all time favorite Kerry Washington. These ladies look amazing.

Who were your winners in the style department for the Red Carpet?

Last night was the 2012 American Music Awards. While I didn’t get a chance to catch the full show, I was definitely tuned in for the Red Carpet. With the exception of the Grammy’s, for most music award shows celebs are less formal and traditional. Because music of the creativity that one is allowed to express through music, here is the chance to do the same thing with your style. Take a look at a few of the looks from last night.

Kelly Rowland, Jordin Sparks, Brandy Norwood

  • Kelly looked amazing in this printed dress. The design is so intricate and definitely a show stopper. Her shoe choice was perfect. She kept it simple and let the dress do the talking
  • Jordin Sparks has an amazing weight loss story. Although I am not crazy about the design on the dress, the fit is amazing
  • Brandy’s black and gold look made a lot of noise on twitter. Many people were on the fence about the entire look. I think the dress paired with different boots, or the boots paired with a different dress, she would have knocked the look out of the park

Christina Augilera, Gwen Stefani, Taylor Swift, Heidi Klum

  • It appears to be the year of the bangs. Christina showed off her curves in this very feminine ombre gown. I must say I love her hair. On the voice, the multicolored tips were a little distracting. This blunt bob is definitely a better choice
  • Gwen Stefani graced the red carpet in this amazing printed jacket and black leather pants. The leather definitely shows that Gwen Stefani has a little edge, but the jacket is what pulls the look together.
  • Taylor and Heidi both showed a lot of leg in gold/lace mini dresses. If you got flaunt it!

Kerry Washington and Nicki Minaj

  • Kerry Washington can do no wrong in my eyes. While this dress may be a little to elegant and sophisticated for this music event, she definitely stays true to her style
  • I’m glad that Nicki Minaj was not in drag or some other strange costume. While I wish she did another pose and smiled, this is the best that she has looked in a very long time. It is toned down, but because of the vibrant color you still get a feel of her personality.

Who rocked the 2012 American Music Awards Red Carpet for you?

As we all know the annual BET Awards were yesterday.  I typically don’t watch the BET Awards simply due to the fact that they are usually poorly run, most of the “A” list celebrities never show up and the red carpet is usually rather boring and ratchet  – however, this year I decided to tune in because I heard Jay-Z and Beyonce were coming! Let’s be honest…if Jay and Bey are coming than there must be something to watch….lol

Anyways, I was pleasantly surprised by the BET Awards this year.  A lot of celebrities showed up, the performances were great and most importantly (to me at least) it seemed like most attendees really stepped up their fashion game.  Of course some people don’t ever seem to get it right in the style category…but we will let that slide….

I was happy to see that the ladies really broke away from the typical black gowns and opted for dresses/looks in more colorful and bright hues.  Bold and bright colors always look amazing on brown skin :).  Yellow seemed to be the color of choice this year and those who wore it, wore it right.

Let’s get into some of the looks from last night…

I couldn’t locate a full picture of Rocsi’s look but I thought she looked really good.  I love the dress, hair and makeup….kudos to her getting it right, we see you Rocsi.

Tatyana Ali looked cute in a yellow peplum skirt.  I could have done without the white pumps but overall I think she looks good and everything fits well.

Wendy Raquel Robinson looked stunning in a cut-out BCBG gown. Loving this look on her.

YES, BRANDY!!!!  I absolutely loved Brandy’s look (she was actually one of my favorites).  I know she didn’t go with the standard gown look, however I think her outfit choice (as well as hair and makeup) is perfect. She looks FLAWLESS.

I was happy to see Beyonce there, however I can’t say the same thing about her outfit choice.  Bey has an amazing figure and I feel like this dress did nothing for her (too much fabric not enough Bey!).  Of course Beyonce always looks gorgeous just not a big fan of the dress.

Elle Varner looked colorful in her long-sleeved sequin gown.  I am torn on the dress – I want to love it but I am not sure how I feel about it – the jury is still out on this one!

Faith Evans kept it casual and cute in leopard skinny pants.  I actually like Faith’s look however I do think it’s a tad too casual for an awards show.  Nonetheless, good job.

Flo Rida & Melyssa Ford showed up together lookin’ sharp in white ensembles.

Jay-Z and Kanye.  Not much to see here – I’m glad to see Jay retired the timbs for one night. 🙂

LaLa looked nice in a glittery jumpsuit paired with a metallic belt and platform sandals.

Selita Ebanks rocked a  dress from the Falguni & Shane Peacock Spring 2012 collection.  Selita was the best dressed to me.  The dress is gorgeous, from the color palette to the detailed bead work and the sheer bottom it breathes elegance and femininity.

Hosea Chanchez arrived in an interesting look.  I love the color of the suit and the leopard shoes ( one of my favorite pattern/color combos is cobalt blue and leopard).

2 Chainz did what he did….don’t have much commentary on this get up. Love his music though! 🙂

Big Sean….showed a little skin in his all black ensemble. As far as I’m concerned, he can do no wrong….he’s just so adorable and his style works for him.

Busta Rhymes found the timbs Jay-Z decided not to wear.  Nothing much to see here folks.  Typical Busta.

Lauren London

Does Letoya Luckett age?? Seriously???  Letoya looked beautiful in this yellow, tulle gown. Flawless.

Lola Monroe looked like a modern day Greek goddess in her one arm peach gown and gold head chain.  I loved her entire look.

Taraji P. Henson

Trey Songz looked ready for Fall in his purple leather.  I don’t know what LA’s weather is lookin’ like right now, but it is entirely too hot at the moment to wear any type of leather in NYC.

Tamar Braxton love’s her some tulle…no one can argue with that.

Willow Smith.

Swizz Beats looked dope in bright, patterned Givenchy pants paired with white shoes and a white top.  He was actually my best dressed male.  I know the pants are a bit much…but I love them and I loved the way he is styled.

Nicki Minaj toned it down this time around – this is a good look for her.

Monica & Shannon Brown.  I love these 2 together.

Melanie Fiona opted for all black with a body chain.  Nothing extraordinary but she definitely looks good….just a little safe.

Meagan Good arrived looking darling in all white.  I love her outfit and hair choice….very classy yet sexy (in a wholesome way..lol).  She definitely has that “I just got married” glow.  Beautiful.

What did you guys think of the BET Awards, and who was your best and worst dressed???

Happy Monday Guys!

To kick off the week we are going to re-cap the Red Carpet at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards.

My favorite part of award shows is definitely the Red Carpet – I love to see what all the Celebs are wearing!

This MTV Awards show definitely did not disappoint in the fashion aspect!

Since the MTV Awards are less formal then the Oscars and Grammy’s, celebrities were able to showcase some non-traditional, funkier dresses and I absolutely loved it!

The trend was definitely mini-dresses – from peplum’s to metallics and eccentric prints these ladies looked HOT!

Check out some of the Celebs below!

Ciara looked stunning in this red mini dress.  I love how she paired the dress with “nude” shoes.

Charlize Theron kept it classy and chic in a red peplum dress.  This is a great look for her.

I absolutely loved Christina Ricci’s dress by Christian Siriano — the custom dress is decorated in watches!

Crystal Reed opted for an Issa London dress.  I know it is a little different, but I adore this dress….it’s very unique and the cut is tailored and looks amazing on her. (Not a big fan of the black boots paired with the dress)

Elizabeth Banks killed it in this Elie Saab jumpsuit. I love everything about this look – from the simple hair to the shoes she looks fabulous!

Emma Stone looked darling in her nude and black paired ensemble.  This Martin Grant peplum dress is very unique, I love the cut on her.

Emma Watson took the edgy route with a dress from the label Brood by Serkan Sarier.  I really like this dress and love how she was styled….it just works for me!

Holland Roden killed it in her Red and Nude Combo.  Skin, Makeup, Hair, Dress, Shoes all work together beautifully. She looks stunning.

Janelle Monae stuck to her usual black & white attire.  She looks nice but this is a look we’ve seen countless times.  However, I do love her makeup and hair.  She’s such a pretty girl!

Julieanne Hough opted for a black and nude lace peplum dress with cut-outs.  I love the dress, however I think she should have wore her hair up.  Overall, she looks cute!

Kat Graham looked stunning in a draped Maria Lucia Hohan gown. Kat always looks beautiful and the dress fits her perfectly.  I also would have liked to see her hair up or styled in a different way.  Nonetheless, she still looks beautiful!

Kristen Stewart went for something different and chose a colorful, metallic Guishem dress.  I ADORE this dress and I loved everything about her look.  One of my favorite looks.

Mila Kunis strutted the red carpet in a colorful sheer and metallic Fendi dress.  She looks HOT! I love the dress!

Not A huge fan of Romeo Miller but I must admit he is looking quite sexy here….lol.  His deep-v shirt and blazer are doing it for me!

I don’t have much to say about Wiz (I love his music??!) but his girl Amber Rose looked amazing in a mint green sheer mini dress.  Amber’s fashion choices are a bit risque and tend to show a lot of skin but she always pulls it off and although this dress is showing quite a bit, I think she actually looks rather classy this time.  I love that she downplayed the dress with nude shoes and light makeup! Bravo Amber!
