I try not to be too trendy when it comes to my style. I love classic pieces and incorporating a trend or two in my looks. Some trends last for a season or two while others turn in to classics (hello leopard print). So one of the major trends of Spring 2013 is stripes, particularly black and white stripes. I love this trend. I’ve dedicated a few posts to this trend (check them out here and here). So I’ve been on the hunt for a black and white vertical stripe blouse because I refuse to pay $80 for the blouse at Zara.

Anyway, this look was inspired by this trend. I paired my favorite faux leather skater skirt with a mixed stripe long-sleeve shirt I remembered I had in the back of my dresser drawer dedicated to casual tops (my organization is sick). Anywhoooo, here is the look.

TGIF! Although the weather today is pretty this weekend it will be amazing. This will be our first taste of spring with the temperatures in the high 50s. I’m so excited! This winter has been rough and I need my warm weather.

Since today is Friday I decided to do an outfit post for casual Fridays. I don’t work in a restrictive environment so I can pretty much wear what I want, as long as it is appropriate of course 🙂 If you work in Corporate America you have more rules that you must follow. This is an outfit for those that can have a little fun at work. Printed pants can be kept casual or dressed up if you want to go out after work. Peplum is still popular and flatters any shape. Pair the look with black pumps and a great handbag in a bold color and you are ready for the weekend!

I usually don’t get this dressed up on Christmas. I rarely wear jeans on holidays, but there was something special about today lol. My “maxi skirt” is actually a dress that I purchased from jc penney on Black Friday. I paired it with a v-neck black long-sleeve shirt from 6pm.com and my sequin vest by Apostrophe from Sears (now Metaphor). I finished the look with Michael Antonio zippered booties from 6pm.com and silver jewelry.

It was very windy lol

I love the cranberry color it gives off in the sunlight. In regular house lighting it looked more like oxblood, but outside my dress/skirt was more vibrant.

I had a magical Christmas and I hope you all did as well. Until next time…

Happy Monday my loves. I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving with your loved ones. Now we are back to the every day grind until Christmas. It’s sad, once one holiday is over, I’m counting down to the next lol. Anyway, back to the task at hand, my Thanksgiving was awesome, I had some great laughs with my family.

For my look, I wanted something simple, but of course with a little twist.

What I Wore

  • Black Skater dress from H&M
  • Grey tights by Exhiliration from Target
  • Over-the-knee Socks from Forever 21
  • Plum Marcy boots from Michael Antonio via 6pm These boots are super comfortable and I love the thick heel. It makes it easy to both walk and stand.
I kept it very simple, but of course my OTK socks and boots added a little edge to show my personal style. This dress was definitely food friendly. I wasn’t concerned with the bulge because it was hidden! I love how long my legs looked as well. You would have never guessed that I was only 5’4″!

This year has gone by extremely fast. I can’t believe that it is almost over. Can you believe that it is Thanksgiving already?!?!? This is insane, but as always I have created some amazing looks that will have all eyes on you and not just the food.

Look #1: The Hostess

The Hostess

For this look I wanted something dressy if you were hosting a formal dinner. So I paired a raspberry colored long sleeve dress with black and gold accents. As the hostess you must greet your guest and make sure everyone is having a great time so you should look good doing it.

Look #2: Meet the Parents

Casual Chic

I created this look if you are going with your significant other to meet his family/parents for the very first time. You do not want to seem like you are trying to hard so a nice pair of black trousers with a bold top (hence the structured sleeves) a vest to add some personality, and of course a printed shoe. The shoes will definitely be a conversation piece. Wear neutral makeup to enhance your natural beauty, and gold accessories for a little bling.

Look #3: Family Fun

A Pop of Color goes a long way

I paired a simple long sleeve shift dress with colored tights and riding boots if you are just having dinner with family and friends. The look is stylish and very comfortable. So if your family plays a lot of games you won’t be out of place. Don’t worry, you can still play Taboo and charades and not feel uncomfortable.

Stay tuned later this week to see the look I rocked for Thanksgiving. I hope these suggestions help you put together a fabulous outfit!
