This weather has been a drag. I know, I know, it is winter and this is the “normal” weather for winter…. I don’t think I’ve experienced such frigid temperatures and consistent snow. I’m so over it. I hate dressing for the cold temperatures. People always say, “You can tell who has true style based on how they dress in the fall and winter.” I think that’s a bunch of bologna. When it’s cold I honestly just want to throw on a sweater, some leggings or jeans, and my UGGs. That’s it. Comfort and warmth are key. This weather does not have me motivated to get dressed at all. I try to spice it up a little for date nights with the boo, and occasionally for work but that’s about it.

I’m not going to count the days until spring. Every season has it’s purpose, so I’m going to try to make the best of winter.

This look I created below would definitely be a nice pick me up.

Beat the Winter Blues

This goes to show a little color goes a long way. I’m used to just wearing gray and black. Occasionally, I’ll throw in some burgundy and oxblood. Colors do help change your mood, so add some color to your wardrobe to beat the blues!

How do you get out of your winter style rut?

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great Easter weekend. I really enjoy spending time with my family and friends so this weekend was just magnificent. I started off by attending church on Good Friday after some shopping with my mom and niece. Saturday, more shopping this time with my sister and then Sunday church, breakfast, and dinner with the fam. So for my look for this Easter I wanted something bright and fun and of course with prints. So this is the look I put together

I love this skirt! It has to be one of the most comfortable things that I have ever worn. It flows really nicely and feels so soft against my skin. If they had other colors I would have definitely purchased them. The color is perfect for spring/summer as well. You will definitely see this outfit again lol and more of this skirt for the next two seasons.

What I Wore

Top: I went to a fashion show last year and was able to pull a few items from the show for only $10. I just forgot the designer’s name (sorry) The top is really a dress that’s worn as a shirt. I believe in getting total use out of all garments

Skirt: Columbia Green pleated midi skirt by Bisou Bisou at jc penney only $25! Click here to purchase

Shoes: Nude pumps from Guess

Earrings: Forever 21 (purchased 2 years ago)

Watch: New York and Co.

Sungalsses: H&M

Bracelet: Handmade (my mom had one on and I loved it. I tried to take hers but that didn’t work so I had her purchase one for me from a co-worker)

So Saturday I debuted my “new look.” Someone at work asked me if I was going through a midlife crisis because my hair has changed three times in three weeks. I thought that was pretty funny. I simply stated I haven’t found the right look as of yet so I am just experimenting. In last week’s What I Wore post I had curly hair, today I have bone straight hair with a blunt bang. I like this look a lot. I am going to stick with it until the summer time.

Last year I cut my hair in an asymmetrical style but now I want it to grow back. I don’t regret cutting it at all. I loved the hairstyle at the time, but now I just miss my hair from 2009. So I have started a new hair regimen and currently doing protective styling to aid with getting my hair healthier and also longer. Enough hair talk let’s get to the clothes!

What I Wore

Blue Lace Dress H&M

Black/Blue Patent Leather Pumps Material Girl via Macy’s

We are approximately one week away from Spring! I am super excited. Last week Thursday was just a teaser and this week, will just be heavenly! My spring season started yesterday lol. I pulled out one of the hottest trends for Spring, bright colored jeans, and paired it with two of my favorite classic items, nude pumps and animal print. Check out the look

What I Wore:

Canyon River Blues Skinny Jeans

Leopard Print Cardigan

H & M Tank Top

Nude Pumps by Guess

And yes I changed my hair again 🙂 I took out my twist. I opted for a curly do. If you remember I did an asymmetrial cut last year and I am in the process of letting my left side grow back. So I am doing a lot of protective hair styles to help with the growth.

To help kick things off, I have created my “Rock Star” Look. I would describe my style as classic with a modern twist and a hint of romance, so this is totally out of my element.

To achieve a rock star look you definitely need something black and something leather. You also need a graphic t-shirt and some skinny jeans or jeans that have been distressed or have that grungy feel. Converses, riding boots, or combat boots are the obvious options for your feet. You can also add accessories like fingerless gloves, spiked vests,  and of course shorts with ripped fishnets. The point of the rock star look is to appear tough and edgy.

So for my version of a rock star look, I paired my burgundy skinny jeans with a graphic tank- yes my tank has pearls lol- with my leather motorcycle jacket. I paired my look with a pair of black heels. I couldn’t get rid of myself totally so I added the heels and tank with the pearls lol. Do you all like my tough face in the first pic? Lol it didn’t last very long because I love smiling!
