President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama

Well President Obama’s 2nd term has officially begun and what better way to end the celebration by recapping the fabulous style from the festivities. Take a look at some of the Style Highlights from the 57th Presidential Inauguration.

Inauguration1

First Lady Michelle Obama looked stunning in this custom made Thom Browne. Browne is typically a Menswear designer, but I’m sure that will change. He designed this one of a kind coat for the First Lady and was inspired by the print of a man’s silk tie. She wore J. Crew gloves and Reed Krakoff boots during the outside ceremony. Sasha wore Kate Spade and Malia wore J. Crew. The blues and purples reigned supreme for the first family.

And one of my other favorite power couples, Jay-z and Beyonce looked amazing as well. Mr. Carter wore a Tom Ford suit and Mrs. Carter wore and Emilio Pucci gown as she SAAANNNGGG the National Anthem.

Inauguration3

And the anticipation for the President and First Lady’s entrance at the Inaugural Ball had me on the edge of my seat. I saw quite a few sketches of gowns that were designed for this special event, but I had no clue to what her choice would be. President Obama looked very dapper, but let’s face it…it was all about the First Lady. She wore a ruby Jason Wu chiffon and velvet gown. Like the saying goes…if it’s not broke, don’t fix it. Jason Wu designed her gown for the 2009 Inauguration Ball and this year he did not disappoint the First Lady. She also wore Jimmy Choo shoes and a handmade diamond ring by Kimberly McDonald. Many people were shocked and some were upset that she chose to go with Jason Wu for a 2nd time. They felt she should have chosen a different designer to “spread the love.” I think she made an excellent choice. You do not know what the other dresses looked like and she went with what she felt was the best choice. Bottom line, she looked stunning!

Inauguration4

Alicia Keys wore a red Michael Kors gown and can we talk about Jennifer Hudson’s waist in this black gown? I’m starting my workout routine tomorrow!

Inauguration2

Check out Eva Longoria’s salmon colored coat and I LOVE the bow detail on Dr. Jill Biden’s coat as well. These are other photos from the weekend’s festivities.

The first look consists of a cocktail dress, pumps, and bold jewelry. You can never go wrong wearing a cocktail dress. Most likely you have one in your house that you have never worn or you haven’t worn in years (or maybe I’m just the guilty one). Cocktail dresses are simple and easy to accessorize. You do not have to choose red, you can choose any color that you would like, as long as it compliments your skin tone.

Date Night Look

The second look is a little more sophisticated. Cocktail dresses are usually very sexy. So if you are more conservative, you can wear a pencil skirt and a nice blouse with a pair of  ankle boots. I like the raspberry and teal color combination so I decided to mix those colors.

Dinner and Dancing

The last look is a bit spicy. It features an intricately detailed black jumpsuit with spiked heels, rosette clutch and bold cocktail ring. The design of the jumpsuit is edgy yet sexy. The straight leg allows you to wear almost any type of shoe but I would go with a pump. Because the jumpsuit is all black, I decided to add blue spiked heels for some contrast.

Jumpsuits and Blue

This is just part 1. Stay tuned for part 2 coming later this week!
