Over the weekend I met up with Dustin the photographer and we snapped these shots.

I have been trying to layer more. I can help other people layer their clothes without a problem but when it comes to me, I have yet to master this skill. I think I did pretty well though. I chose to wear a form fitting sweater dress with an over-sized cardigan. I belted the cardigan to give it shape. To make the look ‘winter appropriate’ I paired it with some grey opaque tights to break up the monochromatic look, and topped off the black over the knee socks and silver accessories.

I love the the black and white/color photos.

As the blog grows I try to create new features that will reach a wider audience. I have tried to do a weekly Men’s Style feature but I have not been consistent, so I enlisted the help of one of my friends, Rob. I told him, yes, I told him, that he is the new men’s style blogger for Her Goody Bag. Look out for his weekly posts!

Men’s Style: The Art of Layering

Fall is here gentlemen and besides the fact of staying fashionable (no more camo shorts) you’ve got to be warm.

One easy way to meld the two sides together is to become fluent in the art of layering.  The simplicity is the same for business and casual.

Business

Simple: sweater (mock neck, shawl neck, v-neck) button down & blazer/top coat. Pair with slacks and comfortable loafers. To make outfit pop I usually wear a brightly colored button down with subtle color slacks and sweater.

Casual

Even easier: favorite pair of jeans, monotone color sweater/cardigan, plaid button down & jacket (I’m privy to a nice varsity but military inspired works as well). I usually make a shirt decision based on what im going to put on my feet (options abundant for sneakerheads).

How will you layer?
