Cody Sai Adler-McAllister moved to New York at the age of 18 from his home town Berkeley, California. He began his degree for Fine Arts at Pratt Institute, and was introduced through a family friend to internationally recognized designer Koos Van Den Akker, famous for his collage like patchwork and the Cosby sweaters in the 1980’s. Koos gave Cody his first glimpse into the Fashion Industry and has since acted as his greatest teacher/mentor.

Cody then attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, where he graduated with a degree in Fashion Design. While getting his education at F.I.T., he interned at several show rooms and independent design companies. Eager to get back into the creative side of fashion, he decided to launch a small collection for Spring 2010.

Here is a preview of Cody Sai’s Fall 2010 Collection

What I love about Cody Sai’s collection is the silhouettes he creates to accentuate the female body. His pieces have the right amount of femininity and sexiness. The fabric choice shows the delicateness about women, but the color choices is what adds the edge. He shows the power in simple detailing because some women understand that less is more.

In an effort to “promote people and the planet” UK based clothing brand ASOS has launched the Green Room which will feature various collections using organic materials inspired by various cultures of the world. One of the first collections from the Green Room is The Africa Collection.

ASOS released this statement “On our continuing quest to find new inspiration for ASOS.com collections, we recently spent time in Africa working with artisans and small producer groups. The vibrancy of the continent inspired us to create ‘ASOS Africa’ with the aim of supporting trade in Africa.”

The looks in this collection are made from original African print fabrics and they are also crafted using special design techniques within the African community. I appreciate ASOS.com in diversifying their collections and educating their consumers on various cultures around the world.

Tribal inspired looks are great for the spring. Here are a few of the looks from the ASOS Africa Collection:

ASOS Africa Woven Mix T-Shirt Dress $95

ASOS Africa Printed Playsuit $85

ASOS Africa  Printed Tie Waist Shorts $70

ASOS Africa Printed Jumpsuit $130
