Style Files: Suit Me Softly

posted by:

I know you are probably like, what I mean by “suit me softly” well I didn’t come up with the phrase (you’ll find out later in the post). There is a trend called “soft suiting” where you would generally take pieces that would normally be part of a suit or have suit like qualities and create a look. So I can take a blazer, pair of cuffed city shorts, and a tank  or maybe a loose fitting t-shirt, vest, and shorts or a skirt and that would make a “soft suit.”

Here are some looks

  1. Drawstring waist cuffed city short $25
  2. Linen Stretch Shorts $22
  3. Kulotte Short $14
  4. Linen Roll-Up Blazer $32
  5. Open Front Menswear Vest $26
  6. Striped Linen Blazer $32

Aren’t the prices fantastic! Well that’s because these items come from Charlotte Russe. Extremely affordable and fashionable. You can’t go wrong. You don’t have to be rich to be fashionable!

I purchased the vest and the kulotte shorts in black.

Top 5 Spring Transition Pieces

posted by:

Spring time is almost here! Thank God, this 20 degree weather and these blizzards are not cutting it. We only have a few more weeks of winter so, in preparation for this transition into spring, I have compiled a list of winter-spring transitional must haves. The early part of a new season is very tricky and people are confused on how to dress for the weather. We go shopping attempting to expand our spring wardrobe, but we are faced with the winter items that are on sale, but it is too warm to wear the chunky sweater and the tanks and shorts are out but it is to chilly to start shedding the clothes. The key is to layer, layer, layer. So, check out the top 5 pieces you will need to make a smooth transition.

 1. Boyfriend Blazer- The boyfriend blazer is now a staple piece in any woman’s wardrobe. The menswear cut with a touch of femininity is the best combination. This blazer can be layered over a cami for the evening, a graphic print t-shirt for the day. It is the perfect layering piece for chilly nights.

2. Trench Coat- The trench is ESSENTIAL to any woman’s wardrobe. This is the perfect transitional outerwear piece because its versatility. It can be worn during the day time or evening, to work when paired with your favorite dress or pencil skirt, or on weekends paired with your favorite jeans. It is very light for the spring, but heavy enough to keep you warm. Go for bold colors or even pastels. You can never go wrong with the traditional khaki.

Korto Momolu of Project Runway

posted by:

Korto from Project Runway is clearly showing that she should have taken the title. I think she was underestimated as a designer and her show at NYFW proves this to be true. Her line is vibrant, innovative, and functional. REAL WOMEN can be seen in her pieces. Some designers create looks that people try wear as RTW and they just end up looking a mess. Korto, on the other hand, has an eye for sophistication and elegance. You will not look ordinary in her pieces and that is what’s needed in fashion today.

Mya recently did a photo shoot with Beauty Entertainment Magazine and she looks absolutely phenomenal. She really hasn’t been on her style game, but this is the Mya that should stick around forever. My top three favorite things about Mya’s style:

  1. Candy colors-they complimnet just about every complexion
  2. Statement necklace- This  necklace can make any outfit pop. The turquoise and the fuschia combined looks amazing
  3. The lingerie top and blazer. This look ruled the runways for the Spring so ladies stock up on those sexy little camis!

New Video: Amerie- More Than Love

posted by:

I think Amerie is such an underrated artist. If she had the right people promoting her she would do so much better. This song is definitely a hit and Fab kills it as usual. I love all of the looks in the video for both Amerie and Fab. She has on the Rodarte x Nicholas Kirkwood boots that I blogged about a few months back. Her fashion game is definitely on point.

Two of my favorite entertainers have recently released some hot photos. Zoe Saldana, one of my favorite actresses because of her role in one of my all time favorite movies “Center Stage” (such a dancer at heart) and Amerie who is definitely under rated (go buy her album!)
