Last Tuesday my long time friend fellow blogger Kim of Makeup by Kim Porter hosted our very first blogging event. It was a great success! We had an amazing time with our readers, fellow bloggers, family, friends, and sponsors.

Our guests were able to enjoy a candy and popcorn buffet from Huey’s Chueys Candy Boutique, express manicures sponsored by Diosa Nails and Shic Beauty Salon, wine and cocktails sponsored by Zico Coconut Water, hors d’oeuvres by Chef Shani of Chef 71ATe and Taste Buds. Shopping was provided by Natty Boutique and Kim provided beauty makeovers while I provided styling advice on upcoming trends and dressing for your body type.

We also held two giveaways sponsored by Fly Credentials and Elleina D. Accessories

All guests went home with great gift bags as well!

Overall it was a great success and a great event. I would like to thank everyone who came out to support and all of those who made this event possible. Special thanks to Melissa of O So Chic, Rob, Camilla, David, Ian, Lloyd, Chanell, Mia, and Krystyna for their help with making sure the event ran smoothly. We really appreciate it! Last night in NYC, I along with my friend and blogging buddy Kim attended the VIBE Magazine and Luster’s Pink Smooth Touch launch event for the new face of the company, Letoya Luckett. She has replaced the former spokesperson for Smooth Touch, Keyshia Cole.

Letoya was radiant in a cobalt blue dress, statement pearl necklace and studded shoes (I believe are Louboutin) Her hair and makeup was flawless!

The Smooth Touch Brand of Luster’s Pink Brand is targeted toward younger women:

“Luster’s® Pink® Brand Smooth Touch products are for younger, style conscious women with an urban, hip-hop flair who want hair-care products that allow them to have beautiful, healthy, unique, head-turning styles whether they’re walking the red carpet, shopping at the mall or hanging out with their friends.”

Letoya Luckett will also promote other products besides the relaxer. She will promote

  • Smooth Touch Go Glitz Olive Oil Sheen Spray
  • Smooth Touch Hydration Vibe Olive Oil Hair Lotion
  • Smooth Touch A Reason To Gloss Shine Polish.

The event was a great success! Complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and great conversation. In attendance was Keshia Knight-Pulliam  (Rudy Huxtable) Ms. Drama, Danielle- The Style and Beauty Doctor and many more.

Here is Kim in a fabulous peach dress and Danielle rocking a bold red lip. I love it!

Last night, I attended the Diva Lounge event at Honey Lounge located on  14th St. and 8th ave. The Diva Lounge, founded by radio personality Shayna D,  is a monthly New York Based networking event designed to connect females from various industries. It is a great place to mix, mingle, and build new contacts and relationships.

This month’s event was to celebrate the birthdays of the Cancer (zodiac sign) Divas. Kim and I went to celebrate the birthday of fellow blogger and founder of She Blogs, Ally.

She looked great in her Black mini bodycon dress and her booties were niicceeee (in my fabolous voice). They were black peep-toe wedge booties, but what made them so awesome was the silver studded wedge. I wanted to ask her where she got them from, but it was a birthday shoe, and those are special…I know how I am when it comes to my birthday shoes….(sorry off topic).

We also caught up with Tiffini, the founder of Meo Total Body Beauty. She looked great in her pink bodycon dress, layered with a floral cardigan and dressed up with pearls. She was very classy and the bodycon dress added a touch of spice. Here she is pictured with Kim.

Other bloggers that were in attendance included The Fab Chick, My Pink Monkey, Genevieve from Gorgeous on the Go, Kitty Bradshaw, Danielle from Life in the D Lane, and many more.  I also met photographer Rayon Richards, he was really cool.

Here are a few other photos

Closer look at our outfits…I don’t know why I’m doing that awkward pose, don’t judge me lol

This was a great event and happy birthday to Ally and the other Cancer Divas that partied hard last night.

Until next time…

So my best friend, Erica, is in town this week. She came up from Philly to visit and I havn’t seen her since my graduation in May so we had our usual BFF (with her younger siblings outing). I found out about the Mr. Brainwash “ICONS” Remix exhibit via twitter and it is amazing. What you are about to see is only a small snap shot of what the exhibit entails.

Erica, Julianne, Samuel, and Me…I remember when I was taller than him…that was a long time ago lol.

These portraits are amazing!

Images made out of vinyl

This is so powerful!

The horse is actually made out of tires and Martin Luther King Jr. with the coolest hat and shades.

Mr. Brainwash also paid tribute to some of the greats in the world of art: Keith Herring, Picasso, Banksy, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol, Frida Kahlo, and others. He also paid tribute to the greats in music, politics, civil rights, science, and sports: Martin Luther King Jr., Michale Jackson, Muhammad Ali,  Albert Einstein, The Beatles, Kiss, Ray Charles…and more.

The color motif was pink and here is the story behind it:

Mr. Brainwash had a can of pink paint in his trunk. It spilled out in his trunk and was dripping everywhere. He was inspired then to create the remix to his “ICONS” exhibit

If you are in the NYC area, check out the exhibit in the Meat Packing District.
