Hey loves!!!

I hope you all had a great weekend and were able to keep cool from the blazing heat! So every year for the 4th of July weekend, Essence has their music festival. People from all walks of life spend a few days in New Orleans listening to great speakers, attending awesome concerts, eating incredible food, and a whole lot more. I have yet to attend an Essence Music Festival, but I’m thinking next year may be the year. I had to live vicariously through those I follow in Instagram and Twitter, and of course my Facebook friends. It seems like everyone really enjoyed themselves! Thank God for pictures because we can see a small snapshot of what we missed.

Essence has compiled a list of the most fashionable and fabulous celebrities under the age of 40. The list is in no particular order, but most if not all of the women have been featured on HGB at one point in time. Check out a few of our favorites, besides Beyonce, Rihanna, Lala, and Solange. You know how we feel about those ladies already.

Amber Rose, Jennifer Hudson, Selita Ebanks, Yaya Dacosta

There’s more and the entire list

Maybe I am super late, maybe I’m not, maybe I’m reading into this picture too much, but are Brandy and Terrence J dating? If so when did this happen and how did they get together? lol I saw this picture on Essence and thought they were so cute.

Ebony turns 65 and brought stars like Usher, Mary J. Blige, Nia Long,Taraji P. Henson, and Samuel L. Jackson to help celebrate this milestone in their November issue. I personally think the color scheme is great! The silver/grey looks with the red lettering really makes a strong statement.

I can say the same about the November issue of Essence Magazine which features the beautiful, talented, and fashionable Kerry Washington.

This cover is simply amazing. Everything from Kerry’s hair to her nail polish just make you stare. This issue is about race in America. Kerry Washington was recently on broadway starring in the play Race (I heard mixed reviews, but didn’t get a chance to check it out myself) and in this issue she states “…I don’t want to ignore my Blackness. I  just want to get to the point where my racial identity is simply what makes me unique…” This should be an interesting read.

If I’m not mistaken (correct me if I’m wrong) this is Kerry Washington’s first cover issue for Essence Magazine. It is quite nice to see a refreshing face on the cover. It is also quite nice that Essence is covering a real topic unlike last months issue with Blair Underwood, Boris Kodjoe, and Lance Gross where they “teach” black women how to keep their man from cheating. That’s an entirely different issue…

Kerry has two movies coming out “Night Catches Us” and “For Colored Girls” which hits theatres November 5th.

KeKe Palmer stopped by the Essence office recently and I must say, she is such a lovely young lady. She has style and class. I admire her for not conforming to what other people are doing in the industry. She is not trying to portray an image and lifestyle that is not practical for the young girls that look up to her. Some people say “well behaved women rarely make history” or they remixed it to “well behaved b*****s rarely make history” but that’s just some out of control person trying to justify their actions. Keke shows that you can have class and be successful. Young girls should definitely look up to her.
