As you get older you begin to mature and look at life from a different perspective. This may not be the case for everyone, but this definitely applies to my life. I have a confession to make…I used to be a binge shopper. I used to be a shopaholic. I know this is the case for many women, and some people do not even consider this a problem but it was for me.

While in college and a few years after I graduated I would spend my hard earned money on clothes and accessories. I wasn’t concerned with saving or paying any major bills because I “lived for the moment.” I would always end up at the mall and go from store to store racking up on all of the latest trends. Whenever I was going to a party or to dinner I would HAVE to buy a new outfit. Repeating looks was not my M.O. So I shopped, and I shopped, and I shopped. I would waste so much money on trends or things that I would wear only once. As I sit here and write this post, I think about all the money I could have saved and trips I could have taken if I was more responsible.

I guess this comes with growing up; you recognize your mistakes and you make better decisions. So out with the old and in with the new! I have learned to become a savvier shopper. I plan my purchases carefully. I’ve found that my wardrobe is more polished now that I plan my purchased. Before, my closet used to be filled with trends. I would have pieces that I wore once and never wanted to wear again. I would shop on impulse and end up wasting money because I would never wear some of the pieces. Now that I have a more defined style, I find buying pieces a lot easier. Also I can help my clients define their personal style and avoid making the same mistakes that I did.

Breaking my binge shopping habit was one of the best things that I could have done. My OLD ways of shopping were not healthy or productive. Now with my NEW found perspective my fashionable life is a lot less complicated.

What OLD habits have you broke? How were you made NEW?

Kelly Rowland made a guest appearance in ATL this weekend at the Hot 107.9 Birthday Bash.

Kelly rocked the Charlotte Olympia Kiss Me Leather Pumps with some cut-off, frayed denim shorts, a basic slub white tee and accessorized with gold jewelry.  Can I just say how AMAZING Kelly looks….that skin is FLAWLESS.  The outfit is simple but nonetheless she looks pulled together and polished.  I love the entire look.

Make sure if you opt for short, shorts or dresses that you moisturize – perhaps try a lotion with a golden tint or some type of shimmer to achieve Kelly’s glow.

What do you guys think of Kelly’s look?

So after a STRESSFUL Friday and Saturday (I’ll leave my work problems alone) I decided I’d join one of my friends at Brother Jimmy’s for a late birthday celebration. I celebrated my birthday at Brother Jimmy’s this year so I did not hesitate to join the fun. As usual there was a table full of “swamp water” and of course some really amazing barbecue. I had barbecue wings and fries and the wings were AMAZING!! When I say amazing I mean it. They were well seasoned and so juicy. The rub and sauce used made the wings taste like ribs. Since Brother Jimmy’s is a sports bar and is very relaxed I went with a simple look. (Photo taken with phone…sorry)

What I Wore

  • Watch & Black sweatshirt/tunic-not sure what to call it because it can be worn multiple ways N ew York and Co. I also have this top in red. They are so comfortable. You get the feel of a sweatshirt, but it is more stylish.
  • Denim Shorts Levi’s via Macy’s
  • Purple Opaque Tights Xhiliration via Target
  • Black Riding Boots Steve Madden
  • Jewelry Random Jewelry Store in Manhattan

All of my friends thought I was crazy because I had on shorts in December. If this was like 3 years ago I would have never put them on, but I love wearing shorts all year round. Thank God for opaque tights, long coats and riding boots lol. Saturday wasn’t that chilly so I was really comfortable. I did get quite a few stares but I just smiled at everyone lol.

On another note, my hair is growing back beautifully. If you recall, I cut my hair in May because I wanted something different and I loved my little edgy asymmetrical cut, but I miss long hair, so I have embarked on a journey to get back to where my hair was in 2009/2010. Stay tuned for those updates.
