This past weekend was the taping of BET’s Black Girl Rock at the Paradise Theatre in New York City. Despite some of the rachetness that BET produces, this is one of the more quality productions from the network. Founded by Beverly Bond, Black Girls Rock set out to provide young women of color with positive images of themselves, contrary to what the media portrays. Black Girls Rock introduces these young women to the arts and is dedicated to helping young women of color develop a healthy self-esteem and recognize their self worth by changing their perspective on life.

Here are a few photos of what to expect when the show airs on BET November 4, 2012

I am not going to sit here and act like I am a fan of the show The Game. In fact I’ve only seen a few episodes. I didn’t follow the show from the beginning and I did not catch The Game marathon on BET. I know the characters and the story lines with in the show, but I just can’t get in to it. I read blogs and everyone raves about the show. My friends tell me how great the show is and what I’ve seen….its good…not great. I guess because of the lack of sitcoms and the dire need for reality shows, TV isn’t the same anymore. I miss shows like Martin, Living Single, even Girlfriends. I’ll probably tune in to watch The Game on Tuesday, maybe I’ll get in to it this time around.

This weekend the celebs were definitely out and about! Award Shows, Birthday parties, and even the birth of a healthy baby boy topped this weekends headlines.

The Black Girls Rock Award Show was held this weekend in the Bronx. The show will air on BET, which was a sponsor along with SO Kodak
