Reader Tenee sent in this request:

“I bought a bustier a while back because it looked cute on the manequin. Now I have no clue what to pair it with, without looking trashy. How can I rock this look?”

The bustier trend is one that is diefficult to execute without looking inapproriate. Yes I know the bustier is not meant to be shown, but in fashion, most of the rules are broken.

One way that you can rock the bustier during the day is with a white oxford shirt or simple button up. With the oxford/button up you can unbutton the first few buttons at the top. Pair it with skinny jeans, cigarette pants, or a pencil skirt and you are good to go.

I would personally on rock the bustier at night so I created 1 night look, one day look and a transitional look

Here are the three (3) looks I created for Tenee. Here is one

I  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE everything about this look. The top, the pants, the shoes. Yes it is out of my price range, but you can get the picture of the look I was going for. You can pair any pair of pants (not jeans) preferably one that is high-waisted or with a tapered leg, the bustier top, neon color bag, and a great platform heel to accomplish this look.

Spring is only 17 days away and I can’t wait. One of the items that is on my Spring Must Have List is a wedge sandal. I love wedges because it gives you the height of a heel, but the functionality of a flat shoe. They are easy to  move around in and are quite  comfortable.

This wedge sandal is the perfect color and gives great height, but it is Lanvin and costs $1,245 (click here to purchase) For more affordable options continue reading

For this installment of Fab Under $50 I chose some great accessories and transitional pieces.

Clothing

  • I love the white blouse that can be worn to work, to brunch, or for a night out. Pair it with either skinny jeans and a blazer, pencil skirt, cardigan, and skinny belt, or with a pair of slacks.
  • There is still time to rock faux fur vests and one for under $50 is a great price for right now especially.

Accessories

  • The aqua octopus ring is a great way to add a pop of color to your look.
  • I love the clutch bags. One is more for day time (pewter color) and the beaded/sequined bag is perfect for night. Pair it with your favorite LBD and you are good to go!
  • I’ve been seeing a lot of fashionable women in cut-off leather gloves with bows, so I found this tan pair. I’m not really a fan, but I think this may suit someone, just not  me.
  • The leaf ring is very subtle and understated, but speaks volumes. So does the spiral ring which reads “Not all who wonder are lost” I love the message

Shoes

  • I can’t believe the buckle booties are only $32! That is a steal! They come in black and also nude. Great transitional shoe for the those spring days!

One of my favorite shoe  brands, Aldo Shoes, has collaborated with young desigern Julian Louie. The collaboration will debut for the 2011 Spring/Summer. The wedge heels were inspired by the book “The Hyena and Other Men,” a photography book by Pietro Hugo showcasing a group of Nigerian hunters and their “animal friends.”

These are definitely statement shoes and will be a great addition to almost anyone’s spring/summer shoe collectlion. What is most eyecatching about these heels are the vivid colors and tribal designs. These shoes definitely tell a great story.

Stay tuned for looks inspired by and featuring these wedges.

So my birthday is this upcoming Saturday (woot woot) and I am super excited. My family keeps asking me what I want and the only thing that I can think of is a new pair of riding boots. I have a black pair from Steve Madden that has been with me through thick and thin, but I want to give them a rest during this fall/winter and so I want a brown pair for my birthday. Simple right. I did a post last week on over-the-knee boots, but I prefer riding boots that stop right below the knee. Here are the boots I have my eye on *hint hint family*

Nine West Trinity $179 ships 10/5 (I’m patient, I don’t mind waiting three-five additional days)

Nine West Tierney $169

Aldo Brendal Boot (motorcycle boot) $130
