When it comes to accessorizing, let’s face it, men have far less options than we do. It is very little that they can do to “jazz up” an outfit. We have a plethora of accessory stores, department stores and even the street vendors that we can frequently go to for the perfect compliments to our look. Not only do we have more places to shop for accessories, we also have a variety of styles to choose from while men are not so lucky. Every time I go shopping and I drag my brother or one of my close male friends they all say the same thing “man ya’ll are so lucky.” Not only do we have more options, but the price points that we have to choose from fits everyone’s budget.

The one key piece that all men should have is a nice watch. On Friday, I was at church (yes I sometimes go to church on Fridays) and before the Real Talk service started my friend David started showing me pictures of watches that he wanted when he noticed a watch a gentleman who sat in front of us was wearing a very nice Breitling watch.

So this post is for David and all of the other guys out there who know the importance of a nice watch.Ladies take note, Christmas is around the corner. Here are a few options:

So last night, I went to the Shecky’s Girl’s Night Out event in the city with my mom, cousin, and mom’s co-worker. So I forgot ot put my memory card back in my camera and I was unable to get pictures at the event. When I got home, I did take fabulous pictures of the goody bag and my wonderful purchase. I put myself on a budget so I wouldn’t over spend like I usually do at these events. I only purchased a hand bag.

It’s an oversized clutch with studs. It came with two straps  of different sizes. It can be worn as a cross body bag or a shoulder bag.

This Shecky’s event was ok. It is just getting way too crowded. They have the same vendors and its mostly the same costume jewelry. I t hink I may be taking a  break from Shecky’s for a little while.

So last Friday was the Tribeca Retail Club “Summer Love” event and I had a blast. Once again it was in an intimate setting, which allowed me to take my time at various booths are really talk to the designers and beauty/health experts, unlike other events where people are literally on your back. Here are a few photos from the event.

Dani Katescreator of Kandi Swim which has been featured in Glamour and Sports Illustrated. You also have accessories by Lavazzon. Every thing is hand made which makes their pieces very unique.

Tru Butter’s real skin care products were amazing. It is made with shea butter, which I absolutely love. The butters did keep my hands moisturized for a very long. Most body butters say it lasts for 24hrs but within 10 minutes your hands are dry. This is not the case with Tru Butter products.

Here are a few pieces from Finish Touches Accessories. They were at the last event and I bought two pairs of earrings from them. My friend Kim actually bought the chunky green necklace and my friend Jennifer bought this beautiful coral bracelet.

The accessories are from Sociallite accessories which is a boutique located in Harlem. They had a variety of pieces including unique tie and bow tie chains. The young lady in the yellow is designer Dominique Auxilly. She had a variety of dresses that were unique and one of a kind designs. The dress she is wearing is one of her own and it looks amazing. That color looks gorgeous.

Overall, I had a really good experience at the Tribeca Retail Club “Summer Love” event. My only gripe, I was expecting a little bit more in the goody bag. Some really great products came in the bag like nail polish, eye masks, eye cream etc, but that was the only con really. Two of my readers who attended the event said they would like to see more of  vendors that cater to a variety of sizes not just the size 2s and 4s.

So there you have it! For those of you that attended the event what did you think about it?

A few weeks ago, my dean, Massa, hosted a 5 year “Blu Phenomenon” reunion entitle “Phenomenal Emergence.”  It has been 5 yrs since I have been in my sorority and I celebrated with my line sisters at Massa’s house in Delaware. While there she hosted a  Traci Lynn accessories jewelry party.

The opportunities are rewarding and limitless. If you desire to start your own business, earn free jewelry, or simply update your wardrobe, Traci Lynn Fashion Jewelry is for you!

Here are some photos of the jewelry

I purchased two necklaces “Flower Girl” and “Abstract”

I get so many compliments on these necklaces its ridiculous. The prices were reasonable ($26) and they are of good quality. They may look heavy, but they are very light weight. There are a few more pieces from Traci Lynn that I am considering purchasing.

The only down side to these accessories is that you have to purchase everything through a consultant. Even though there is a website, you can not shop online. Other than that issue, Traci Lynn jewelry gets my vote.

Ok so here at HerGoodyBag we try to keep things positive. We keep the trash talkin to a minimum, but what I am about to say needs to be said:

Sassy City Chicks Fashion Bash was definitely a waste of time.

I have been to quite a few events like Fashion Bash and this by far was the absolute worse.

  1. The “Goody Bags” (if that is what you want to call it) were pointless. I was on the elevator with my friend Kim (check out her blog) and these two girls said “this is an embarrassment! Shecky’s is way better.” If you want to compete with an event like Shecky’s or Tribeca Retail Club you must come correct! The bags consisted of either some false eyelashes, lipgloss (that dries out your lips, where is the shine?) ,or if you were lucky you got a bag with a pair of Fredericks of Hollywood boy shorts (not my size) and a french tip nail pen. Every bag had colgate wisps and some organic chips (best thing in the bag) or a luna bar. So my goody bag had about four things in it along with a coupon for 1800-Flowers. I ended up swapping with my cousin.
  2. There was a limited variety of vendors. Most of the vendors either had attitudes or their merchandise was overpriced. I am not spending $45 on a dress that I can get at Forever21 for $12.80. I am not buying a $30 ring that I can get for $7 (the same exact ring). Everything was over priced except for like a few booths, but the quality of the merchandise was sub par.
  3. The vendors did not cater to a variety of styles. Most of the vendors had the same over priced merchandise and the styles were very limited. Everything was either too big or too small as far as accessories. There were some nice pieces that I did see, but the price was outrageous. There were only a few people selling handbags and most of the bags looked like grandma would carry them now.
  4. The “cocktails” were more like experiments. I am all for “going green” but some of the drinks served tasted like they were still in the lab kitchen.
  5. On a more positive note, cosmetic company Eve Pearl was there and they were doing free make overs so that was a plus. Rani Spa was also giving free facials, but the line was too long and I didn’t feel like waiting #kanyeshrug

Overall, it was just a bad experience. My mom also went and she left after 2o minutes. It was too funny! I did end up buying a tunic (Kim and I thought it could be a dress, but its a lot shorter than it looks lol) for $10 which isn’t bad, but I am pretty upset that I paid for the event. I can see why they were giving out free tickets, because it is not worth it. They must definitely try again. Especially with the goody bag because that is what will attract customers. They had good intentions, but they need another game plan to make this event successful.

Did anyone else go to the event? What was your experience like?
