Archives for August 2014

The lob is not new, but it has become extremely popular over the last few years. For those of you who are wondering what a lob is, it’s just a long bob. So you have the sharp cut of a bob, but with more length. I like to change my hairstyle every few months and I may get a lob. I’m not interested in cutting my own hair at this point, so I’ll probably get a weave. Here are some lob styles that I may want to try for the fall.

Look 1: Colored Lob…like Ciara, Rita Ora, and Nicole Richie, go for a style in a bold color that compliments your skin tone.

Look 2: Layered Lob…like Chanel Iman and Zoe Saldana a layered lob is great for faming the face

Look 3: Ombre Lob…I still love the ombre trend. While some people are going for blues, purples, greens, and other extreme colors, Jessica Alba’s honey tones are perfect for the fall and for the professional

Look 4: Lob with Bangs…like Kerry Washington and Naomi Campbell try bangs for a spin on this look.

I’m leaning toward the layered or ombre lob. If I decide to go through with it, I’l definitely post pictures.

What’s your favorite lob look? Would you try this hairstyle?

Flawless Fall Transition: Chic Outerwear

I’m not sure if summer ever came, but Fall is definitely upon us and to make the most of your wardrobe you need to know how to transition. The best way to get a few more wears out of those maxis and sundresses is by pairing them with a jacket. That could include a blazer, leather moto jacket, denim jacket, and one of my personal favorites, the anorak. I’m sure some of the pieces I’ll have listed below, you’ll already have in your closet. Now when those cooler temperatures roll around, don’t be in such a rush to pack away those dresses, pair with a jacket on cooler days. You could even pair your dresses with tights, boots, cardigan and jacket too…layering is always key. Check out my top picks below.

I have three of the four….I just need an anorak. I’ll be on the hunt for that soon. All of the pieces can add a different element to your look. Choose your outerwear depending on the look you are trying to achieve. My go to pieces are blazer and denim jackets. The blazer adds a more polished look and the denim is for a more casual look. The moto jackets add a bit of edge to your look and the anorak would be great for a mix of masculine and feminine when paired with a sundress.

What is your favorite piece to transition into fall?

I have a confession to make…I rarely buy myself perfume. I really don’t have a reason why, I just hate going through department stores and being bombarded by sales associates trying to get me to sample everything under the sun. Sephora isn’t as bad a department stores, but I still never really have the urge to buy anything. With that being said, I do have an extensive perfume collection because I’ll get most of my fragrances as gifts from my family or my boyfriend. He honestly has purchased about 85% of my perfume collection and I am very appreciative of that. Early during the summer he bought me the Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Pour Femme Escape to Panarea. I’ve always liked the original Light Blue, but this has been my summer staple.

Product Description

Dolce&Gabbana Light Blue continues on a journey through the Mediterranean with Limited Edition 2014, telling a fresh story of escapism. Inspired by the carefree spirit of Isole Eolie, the fragrances embody the sunshine state of mind, taking consumers on a new sensual journey. Light Blue Pour Femme ‘Escape to Panarea’ is a burst of Bergamot and Pear, which brings out the freshness encompassed by the combination of the rich scent of Jasmine and Orange Flower. The fragrance takes you on a more sensual journey, balanced by Warm Musky accords to complete the scent.

What I love about this fragrance is that it is light and fresh. Whenever I wear it, I get tons of compliments. It’s not overpowering, which is perfect for the summer. It is a nice balance between the fruity and musky scents.

Remember the Luxe List series where I would feature items way out of my budget? Yeah well I’m back at it. There’s nothing wrong with coveting some amazing pieces from designers you know aren’t in your price range. It’s better to love from afar rather than spending money you don’t have on clothes you don’t really need lol. Ok I’m getting off of my soap box now. Check out this month’s feature.

Which items are you loving from a distance?

Our favorite former Spice Girl besides Victoria Beckham and favorite X-Factor judge has been on it with her fashion game lately. Mel B. She chooses the right pieces to highlight those curves in a classy way. She is not over the top with her hair and makeup and she lets the clothes speak.

Look One-Office Chic- I love pencil skirts because, when the fit is right and with a  nice pair of heels, it shows that you mean business. Mel B. paired her skirt with black pumps, beige button up, yellow birkin, and a fly pair of shades. This is a great fall look. Since it’s still summer I would opt for a pencil skirt that’s not leather and a short sleeve or sleeveless blouse. In the office I’d throw on a blazer for a more professional look.

Look Two-Date Night- This look is the perfect balance of sexiness and class. She’s showing her killer legs while covered up top. I love lace because it is super feminine and classy. The lace mini paired with the pumps are great for a chic evening look.

Look Three-Bold and Beautiful- Hot pink dresses make the world a better place. No really they do. Well maybe not all, but this dress that Mel B. is rocking on the red carpet of the X-Factor auditions does. I’m all for neutrals, but to spice up your look you need color and that’s exactly what Mel B. did.
