A Day of Celebration

This past Saturday, THOUSANDS of Michael Jackson fans flooded Prospect Park to celebrate the man, the music, the legacy.

Spike Lee originally had the celebration set for Fort Green park but quickly changed locations due to the amount of people expected. People of all shapes, sizes, ages, and color came out in the chilly temperatures for August, with the soggy, wet grass because of Hurrican Danny to celebrate a music icon. The rain did not stop the celebration! People danced and sang like they were at a live Michael Jackson concert to honor the man who left this Earth to soon!

This is too cute.

Happy Birthday MJ

Today we celebrate the life of music icon Michael Jackson! This would have been his 51st birthday. His sudden death left the entire world in a state of shock, but today lets not mourn the loss of Mike, but celebrate his great legacy. He was a musical genius and one of the greatest talents that we’ve ever laid our eyes on. So today blast your favorite Michael song, watch your favorite video, moonwalk or even grab your crotch and do a few pelvic thrusts (ok maybe not the pelvic thrusts) but celebrate the great music that he created for us. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHAEL!!! Gone but not forgotten!

RIP DJ AM

Last night, DJ AM was found dead in his Manhattan apartment. Next to his body was drug paraphenalia and cause of death is a suspected overdose. DJ AM whose real name is Adam Goldstein survived a horrific plane crash last September with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker. DJ AM was respected by all of his peers in the music industry. This is a sudden loss and we at HGB send our condolences to DJ AM’s family and friends.

Sweet Tooth: Tie Dye Jeans

One style that had its run back in the day is now back, but its definitely more chic and stylish. This is not the same tie-dye as the hippies from the 70s or from the cool kids in the early 90s. I remember I used to tie-dye my t-shirts different colors when I was younger. It never worked out so well when it came to my jeans, so now I just buy them, as you should too if tie-dying isn’t your forte. I love the look of the jeans with a simple v-neck t-shirt or tank top and a killer shoe, maybe a long cardigan or blazer to complete the entire look like Rihanna. Here are some jeans that I’ve had my eye on…

In Other News: Ladies Edition

We are going to end the week with a recap of some of the ladies we love and some we would just give the crazy *side eye* too. So check out and see who made it in this weeks recap…In Other News…

NeNe from Real House Wives of Atlanta is promoting her new book. I think I will skip this aisle in Barnes & Noble because I am not a fan of her or the show. I watch, occasionally, when nothing else is on, but I can’t deal with grown women acting like little girls. At first it was funny, but it became annoying.

Lil Mama looking quite nice might I add, performing for KeKe Palmer’s Prom Style Sweet 16.

Rihanna, even on her days “off” she still looks great. Loving the jeans with the vest.

Kendra & Kourtney…I don’t know how Courtney hid that bump, but she did a great job!!! Now that she’s gone public with her pregnancy it looks like the baby came out of hiding. Both mom’s to be look stunning! I love the color of Kendra’s dress.

Cassie, looking real safari-ish. Loving the shoes and the jeans…I like the print of the shirt, just not the cut.

Teyanna Taylor: I’m not too sure what’s going on here with this look. Love the jeans, love the shoes, love the jacket, love the tank, just not all together. Lose the jacket and the shoes, simple black platformed pump and we are good too go!
