Archives for June 2013

On Monday I had the opportunity to attend a great event by NIVEA to relaunch the “Style, Uncapped” campaign. If you follow me on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter you would have seen me posting a few pictures about the night.

“Style, Uncapped” is a customized lip care campaign to help celebrate their consumers’ personal style. The design program can be found at and now consumers can “customize every kiss occasion.”

With themes like Old Hollywood you have the chance to show your personal style. Style, Uncapped will allow you to choose from over 400 patterns and symbols, including the pattern created with fashion designer Rebecca Minkoff. There is an array of colors that you can choose and you can even add words.

Once you have created your design share it with the world via Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and the gallery on the website. Once you have shared your design, consumers can choose your very own design for their cap or use it as inspiration to create their own. You can access the site from your computer, tablet, or mobile devices.

Once you have created your cap, you can choose from a number of NIVEA products such as “Kiss of Milk and Honey,” “Kiss of Smoothness,” “Kiss of Moisture” and more. You can order 1-4 caps for $6 a cap, 5-20 for $5 a cap or 20+ at $4 a cap. This would be a great gift for a baby shower, bacherlotte party, or any other type of party favor. It takes two weeks to create and ship. I can’t wait to receive my HGB design!

At the end of the night there was a raffle for three Rebecca Minkoff Skylar Mini Bags. Melissa from O So Chic won one of the bags! We also received the exclusive Rebecca Minkoff cap design with a NIVEA Chapstick (Kiss of Moisture).

So today tap into your creative side and visit for your customized NIVEA Lip Care products!

Let’s face it; we are bombarded with too much negativity on a daily basis. Whether you are bombarded with hate on social media or subjected to violence in your communities or in the media, we need to think about the good things that are happening in the world to find some sort of peace.

Well Allstate has been “giving it up for good” and seeking out the positive things happening in our communities. I was challenged to find good things happening in my community, and while there are many great organizations doing amazing work I decided to “Give It Up For Good” with Kel Spencer and Pens of Power.

“The Pen is Mightier than the Sword” is the message Kel Spencer delivers through his Pens of Power mentoring and literacy program whose mission is to “To help young minds view words as expressive & limitless tools that can be used effectively for communication, comprehension and creativity.”

Founded by Award winning songwriter, Kel Spencer, Pens of Power uses creative writing exercises as a means to improve students’ writing skills in alignment with the Common Core State Standards, and with the goal of improving state standardized test scores. For those that do not know, the Common Core State Standards are pretty much the road map for education in the United States with 46 states adopting a more rigorous and each enriching curriculum to allow our students to be college and career ready.

Pens of Power is designed to help students, primarily grades 3-8 (2nd grade & High School component are available as well), to improve their reading and writing skills. Using an unorthodox approach towards literacy Kel Spencer incorporates lyric writing, poetry, music, rhythmic prose and brainstorming during the workshops.

As an educator I felt this program was extremely important. Our children are so fixated with technology that they lack basic skills. As time passes we must change our approach on certain issues In this technological and informational age we have to compete with social media, computers, video games and much more to get our students to learn. This is why programs like Pens of Power are so important. They provide another way for students to get the skills they need to compete in a fast pacing world.

Kel Spencer works with various organizations to share his God given talents in hopes of inspiring others. Many of the schools he works have a high African American population. Through this program he is helping to close the educational achievement gap that plague the African American community. He is helping children from all over learn to attain knowledge, comprehend, and apply these skills in the classroom and beyond.

I challenge you to focus on the good and find ways to give back to your community. Money isn’t everything, so give back with your time, gifts, and talents.

One of our favorite fashionistas, Beyoncé, was spotted at Kanye West’s listening session for his new album “Yeezus” rocking a TopShop black and white striped crop top and midi length tube skirt and orange, suede, pointy toe pumps. The TopShop items are currently sold out *insert sad face* but here are some affordable options to get this look

About a month ago, well May 13th to be exact I emailed my friend from high school Cimone telling her I was about to unfollow her on Instagram because of her updates. I wasn’t serious about unfollowing her, but she had become an Herbalife coach and of course she had to promote her business. Watching her progress with Herbalife made me inquire about the benefits for my fitness goals and lifestyle. She gave me the rundown and answered all of my questions, I mean all and there were a lot.

So here is the abbreviated version of the 52,000 emails between us. I basically told her the goals that I wanted to achieve and how, if at all, herbalife can help me. She gave me an option of three plans based on my lifestyle and goals. I chose the first option which consisted of a cleanse, tea, and other tablets. I was only required to work out 2-3 times per week (minimum) and basically “eat clean,” which I have been doing anyway. I sent in my payment and then the magical box appeared lol.

Ok here’s the part you are here for is it the real deal?

Yes it is! It is as simple as that. I have been on this plan for two week and I have lost 4 lbs and have seen a significant change in certain parts of my body such as my stomach (yes it is going down!) and back. I know that I have a small frame, but my back fat was pretty gross for my size and shape. I looked in my fully body mirror yesterday and was like whoa…where did I go?

Not only have I seen a change in my body I also feel amazing. I told her I needed to increase my energy levels, especially with me going back to school this summer. I can HONESTLY say that I have more energy and I feel lighter. I sent Cimone a text this past weekend telling her how much lighter I feel. I used to feel really heavy, but that is not the case now and i don’t feel like I am carrying extra weight. I but admit that it has been difficult keeping up with the eating schedule, exercise, and water intake, especially on weekends, but in order to see results you have to stick with the plan. I’m still working out the kinks like consistently working out and keeping up with my meal plan on the weekend.

1. I feel lighter

2. I have more energy

3. I have seen REAL results in just 2 weeks (weight loss)

So for the people that have inquired if Herbalife really works, I can honestly say it does. Some people have inquired about my exact plan and the pricing, but your coach customizes a plan specifically for you based on your lifestyle and goals so each plan may differ. I can’t wait to see my results after a month. I’ll post pics then. If you want more information or if you want to see real deal results follow Cimone on Instagram: Monie_Gee
