Archives for February 2012

Hey dolls! I was doing some online window shopping lol and came across this AMAZING dress for spring. Remember March is only two days away and so that means it is almost time to pull out the flirty dresses and skirts! Well this ASOS Max C Peter Pan Collar Pleated dress is perfect for the spring.

What I love most about this look is not only the pretty peach color, but the non traditional pleats. Usually when you see pleats it is the fully body of the skirt, but here it is only the bottom right above the hem line. This isn’t something that you see everyday with pleats so you’ll definitely stand out.

Hey lovelies!

So I’ve started a new feature for my curvy girl readers. I want Her Goody Bag to be a place where all women can get style advice and inspritation. This feature “For Curvy Girls” will be once a week and will feature new designers, photos for outfit inspiration, and much more.

Today I decided to start with SWAK Designs. SWAK- Sealed With a Kiss

Via SWAK’s Facebook Fan Page

“Founded by folks who believe fashion should be for everyone. We offer trendy plus size fashion at accessible prices. We believe fashion should be fun & affordable! Show off your natural assets & rock your wardrobe with quality pieces that won’t break your budget.”

Company Overview

“Let’s make this clear: Cute and trendy clothes shouldn’t need to cost and arm and a leg in order to make it into a gals closet. Being a size 14+ doesn’t mean you automatically have a ton of disposable income on hand to keep yourself looking fierce, fashion forward and ready to conquer the world. If you are like me you want to wear the latest styles (which, lets face it, are still hard to find if you’re plus size) without having to commit large portions of your paycheck.”

It”s our mission to bring women like you trendy and affordable plus size clothing. Point blank. Why? Because we feel that fashion should be fun and it should be accessible. Sealed With a Kiss Designs is our way of giving you access to trendy, affordable clothing without the hassle of malls and with reassurance that, YES, cute clothes do come in your size”

In preparation for building your Spring/Summer wardrobe you cannot, and I repeat cannot, forget about the footwear. As I was browsing Karmaloop I came across the 80% 20 Seanne Shoes. These shoes are currently on sale and will be great additions for your Spring wardrobe. Since we had somewhat of an awesome winter, I am hoping that spring is just as awesome. The Seanne Shoes are great transition shoes. They can be worn with socks or tights now with the chilly temps and when the spring hits go bare leg with these babies. Most of the time I try to prepare my outfits for work on Sunday. Every Sunday after church I stand in front of my closet thinking…hmmm what am I going to wear this week? Well I manage to put together 4 looks for Monday-Thursday. Since Fridays are casual I throw on a pair of jeans and top and call it a day. So I usually start with the outfit basics like a dress, pants, top or whatever. I never think about my accessories.

Well fashion guru Lloyd Boston says it’s easier to “dress from small to big.” Meaning start with your accessories and build from their. He says “Start with the littlest detail that you’ll wear and build up to the big pieces for a totally unexpected look. An earring can inspire a total ensemble. Select a  small iece that has a story, some character, a history, and unique details to pull from. “

I never thought about UBD (understanding by design-backwards design) for clothing. If anything I would start with the shoes that I would want to wear, but never the accessories. So ladies (and gents) for that unexpected look start styling from the littlest detail.

Here is an ensemble that I built using this tip. I started with the layered necklace and went from there.

It is no surprise that Zoe Saldana is definitely one of our favorite fashionistas. She always wows us with her dress selection on the Red (or purple) Carpet. Well she definitley turned up the wow factor in this Balmain min floral dress at the Independent Spirit Awards. Zoe Saldana is paired this dress with a pair of nude Brian Atwood pumps. Her makeup was minimal but the overall look was definitely flawless.

I love the open back. It is a cute little surprise when you turn around.

What do you all think about Zoe’s look?
