I am not always about dressing up and throwing on heels. Sometimes I just want to wear a pair of loose fitting jeans and some sneakers. I don’t get this feeling often, but when I do I try to look as polished as possible. It is great to want to be laid back and casual, but you should always look polished and well put together. One thing you don’t want to do is mistake “casual” for sloppy. So keep the ill-fitting sweatpants and sweatshirts at home in the back of your closet and check out this look

Sweats and Kicks

Hey dolls!

With 2013 right around the corner we had to do our yearly review of the top trends. This year was amazing for the fashion and beauty industries. The popular trends took the world, yes the world, by storm. You had everything from oxblood and tangerine, to “poetic justice” braids and wedge sneakers, celebs and fashionistas all over made 2012 a year to remember. Take a look at the hottest trends of 2012.

Beauty- Tangerine Lips, Vampy Lips, Claw nails and intricate nail art

For the spring/summer we saw tangerine lips all of the street and for the fall/winter vampy lips were in control. The nail art craze went to an entirely new level, especially with the intricate designs and 3d application. We can’t forget about the claw/stiletto shape either.

Hair- Poetic Justice Braids, Ombre Hair, High Bun (top knot)- none of these trends are new or groundbreaking, but they made a huge comeback in 2012. The most popular would have to be the top knot that Lala is rocking. Everyone from my 5 year old niece to Beyonce took part in this trend. Solange brought back the “poetic justice braids” again this year and even got her sister Beyonce to partake in the trend. Lastly, ombre hair was huge. Everyone from Ciara to Keke Palmer took rocked this look.

Fashion- Peplum, Hi-Lo (skirts, dresses, tops), Wedge sneakers were huge this year. I mean Tracee Ellis Ross rocked her Isabel Marants and the internet went crazy! Now you can find a dupe pair almost anywhere and in multiple color ways. Then you had the infamous peplum. Whether it was a shirt, skirt, dress, or jacket everyone accentuated their curves with this trend. Lastly, the hi-low trend made a good run. There were hi-low maxis, midis, tops, and more. It allowed you to show a little leg in the front and keep things to the imagination in the back.

Happy Friday Ladies!

Sneaker’s (whether it be wedge sneakers, converse, hi-tops etc) have made a major place in the “fashionable” lady’s wardrobe this season.

Most fashion forward females are known more for their heels, wedges and the occasional ballet flats or loafers but it’s rare you ever see chicks with “style” in sneakers.  However, this season we’ve spotted some of our favorite, stylish celebrities wearing sneakers – from Beyonce to Rihanna, Brandy, Solange, Heidi Klum, Angela Simmons, Kimora Lee, Rachel Roy etc

I can’t lie, I used to only wear sneakers at the gym but over the last few months my love for the new wedge sneakers as well as seeing so many fly females (both celebrities and every day ladies) rockin’ sneakers in such a chic (yes, sneakers can be chic :) ), fly and feminine way I have officially been inspired and have even purchased a couple of pairs!

I believe a lot of women avoid wearing sneakers because they feel that they aren’t “lady like” and don’t really know how to create a “girly” look that incorporates sneakers. However, there are so many ULTRA feminine ways that us ladies can wear sneakers while still oozing class and femininity we really have no excuse!  I mean seriously, if you can still look great while wearing sneaker’s why wouldn’t you wear them – THEY ARE EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE (believe me your feet will thank you! :)

You can achieve that feminine look while wearing sneakers by ensuring that you wear form fitted, ultra girly pieces  (think leggings or really skinny jeans, mini/maxi skirts, floral prints, maxi or skater/a-line cut dresses, crop tops, shorts etc).

Will you be wearing sneakers?

A few weeks ago, Love & Hip Hop New York reality star, Emily B, posted the Giuseppe Zanotti Multicolor Patchwork Hi-Top Sneaker on her Instagram. Check out the sneaker description:
