When I think of white shoes, I think of the Mary Janes my mother used to make me wear when going to church on Easter or just on a nice spring day. I think of the little girls with the frilly lace socks and bows in their hair. Whenever I would see a grown woman with white shoes I would stare in amazement. I don’t know why but they just look awkward to me. I t may be the tile of shoe that I particularly see, but this was just something I could never get on board with.

Well for the spring season it appears that these are the new must haves. Now just because tons of celebs rock white shoes it doesn’t mean that you have to run out and buy a pair. Just because it is of the moment doesn’t mean that it is for you. Here are a few pics of some celebs rocking this trend.

I think I am too traumatized to even go near a white shoe but some celebs have been changing the minds of many, check them out.

It is no secret that I love a bold print. Not only do I love a bold print, I also love a sexy, yet sophisticated style of skirt. So when I saw this Multi Aztec Print Tube Skirt from Top Shop I was in love!

Isn’t she lovely! I love the bold pattern and colors. I like the fact that the skirt is mainly black, but the orange, turquoise, and teal are what makes this print pop. Also the skirt is only $44

Check out this look I created with the skirt.

Trend Alert: Ankle Cuff Sandals

Hey dolls!

With 2013 right around the corner we had to do our yearly review of the top trends. This year was amazing for the fashion and beauty industries. The popular trends took the world, yes the world, by storm. You had everything from oxblood and tangerine, to “poetic justice” braids and wedge sneakers, celebs and fashionistas all over made 2012 a year to remember. Take a look at the hottest trends of 2012.

Beauty- Tangerine Lips, Vampy Lips, Claw nails and intricate nail art

For the spring/summer we saw tangerine lips all of the street and for the fall/winter vampy lips were in control. The nail art craze went to an entirely new level, especially with the intricate designs and 3d application. We can’t forget about the claw/stiletto shape either.

Hair- Poetic Justice Braids, Ombre Hair, High Bun (top knot)- none of these trends are new or groundbreaking, but they made a huge comeback in 2012. The most popular would have to be the top knot that Lala is rocking. Everyone from my 5 year old niece to Beyonce took part in this trend. Solange brought back the “poetic justice braids” again this year and even got her sister Beyonce to partake in the trend. Lastly, ombre hair was huge. Everyone from Ciara to Keke Palmer took rocked this look.

Fashion- Peplum, Hi-Lo (skirts, dresses, tops), Wedge sneakers were huge this year. I mean Tracee Ellis Ross rocked her Isabel Marants and the internet went crazy! Now you can find a dupe pair almost anywhere and in multiple color ways. Then you had the infamous peplum. Whether it was a shirt, skirt, dress, or jacket everyone accentuated their curves with this trend. Lastly, the hi-low trend made a good run. There were hi-low maxis, midis, tops, and more. It allowed you to show a little leg in the front and keep things to the imagination in the back.

What was your favorite trend for fashion, beauty, and hair this year?

Last night was the 2012 American Music Awards. While I didn’t get a chance to catch the full show, I was definitely tuned in for the Red Carpet. With the exception of the Grammy’s, for most music award shows celebs are less formal and traditional. Because music of the creativity that one is allowed to express through music, here is the chance to do the same thing with your style. Take a look at a few of the looks from last night.

Kelly Rowland, Jordin Sparks, Brandy Norwood

  • Kelly looked amazing in this printed dress. The design is so intricate and definitely a show stopper. Her shoe choice was perfect. She kept it simple and let the dress do the talking
  • Jordin Sparks has an amazing weight loss story. Although I am not crazy about the design on the dress, the fit is amazing
  • Brandy’s black and gold look made a lot of noise on twitter. Many people were on the fence about the entire look. I think the dress paired with different boots, or the boots paired with a different dress, she would have knocked the look out of the park

Christina Augilera, Gwen Stefani, Taylor Swift, Heidi Klum

  • It appears to be the year of the bangs. Christina showed off her curves in this very feminine ombre gown. I must say I love her hair. On the voice, the multicolored tips were a little distracting. This blunt bob is definitely a better choice
  • Gwen Stefani graced the red carpet in this amazing printed jacket and black leather pants. The leather definitely shows that Gwen Stefani has a little edge, but the jacket is what pulls the look together.
  • Taylor and Heidi both showed a lot of leg in gold/lace mini dresses. If you got flaunt it!

Kerry Washington and Nicki Minaj

  • Kerry Washington can do no wrong in my eyes. While this dress may be a little to elegant and sophisticated for this music event, she definitely stays true to her style
  • I’m glad that Nicki Minaj was not in drag or some other strange costume. While I wish she did another pose and smiled, this is the best that she has looked in a very long time. It is toned down, but because of the vibrant color you still get a feel of her personality.

Who rocked the 2012 American Music Awards Red Carpet for you?
