For most of us Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer and the official start of barbecue season. This weekend the parks will be packed, backyards filled, and the city over crowded with people celebrating Memorial Day.

My biggest dilemma is finding the perfect look appropriate for all of the craziness I will be partaking in this weekend. Do I want to rock a maxi dress, or a mini skirt? Shorts or skinny jeans? Flat sandals or a wedge?

Well with any day, not just a holiday, we want to look fly so here are some outfit inspirations for Memorial Day weekend.

You can never go wrong with a dress. They are quick and easy to throw on.  This weekend’s weather in NYC is supposed to be AMAZING, so a flirty summer dress is perfect. If you are going to a BBQ pair it with flat sandals or a wedge heel for a more relaxed look.

Try a crop top with a wide leg trouser jean, cut-off denim walking shorts, or skinny jeans for a trendy, yet polished look. You can layer the crop top with a tank or camisole if you do not want to bare all of the goodies!

Have some fun in a flirty skirt. Go for prints! Try a floral or tribal print skirt with a striped tank to mix and match. If you want to play it a little safe pair a printed skirt with a tank in one of the accent colors. Bodycons are also great. Show off your curves, but keep it a little classy with an over sized tee  or even a crop top with a tank underneath. Pair the skirt with some cute flat sandals or a ballet flat and you are good to go.

Try a pair of shorts or skinny jeans in bold colors, or leggings in floral prints or geometric designs. The new and improve Harem pant is also a great option. They give you the comfort of sweats but are more polished. You can also go for rompers and jumpsuits as well.

I hope this posts helps! Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend…in style of course 🙂

Reader Kathleen asked if I could help find great jackets for the spring. So my first instinct was to stick with the classics, and we all know that is the trench coat. Trench coats are timeless and will never go out of style so it is in your best interest to find one of good quality so you can have it for a very long time.

When it comes to Trench Coats, I would first stick with a neutral color because neutrals go with EVERYTHING. The trendier coats are cute, but I wouldn’t spend too much money on them because they are trendy. I found quite a few great trenches for spring. Check them out…

This bag is giving me life. I know it is simple but that is why I love it. The color pops and the box shape is extremely unique. The tassel adds a little fun to the bag as well. This bag is only $50 and can be worn with countless things. Check out a few dresses below that I would pair the bag with and also a link to purchase the bag.

These are not your grandmother’s brooches. These are definitely more modern and will update anyone’s wardrobe. I love wearing brooches on scarves and blazers. I also choose brooches when I want to switch up my look and not wear a necklace or chain. Brooches add a touch of glam and are very inexpensive. Check out some great choices to add to your accessories collection.
