Yesterday was the “DIY or Die” party hosted by two members of the NYC Fashion Bloggers Meetup Group. For those of you who do not know, DIY stands for “Do It Yourself.” So basically this is the time to get creative. Instead of spending tons of money on trendy clothes and accessories, just DIY which is exactly what we did.

The event was held at Taylor and Demolish creator Candy’s house in Brooklyn. The event was sponsored  by Studs and Spikes.com and American Apparel. AA provided some shirts and Studs and Spikes provided all of the studs used for our DIY projects.

Here are the studs that we were able to choose from. Studs and Spikes sent us some of their new products as well.

Candy and Nicole provided us with the tools and some extra materials to add to our garments. Since I am a novice, I didn’t use any of the extravagant studs and spikes.

Here is Candy, the DIY queen! Look at how awesome her pants are.

This was my first time doing anything DIY style. I knew it was going to be difficult and took quite a while for me to get the hang of it. Candy gave great tips. With out her help my thumbs would be a mess right now…trust me. This is my first stud. *pats self on the back*

The progression 🙂

Everyone hard at work. We were seriously focused.

My finished product! I used tall studs and pyramid studs for my design. I studded the back and along the shoulder of my denim jacket turned vest. I originally had plans to do more, but my thumbs said no. DIY is serious work and I commend those who have mastered this craft.

I can’t wait for the 2nd DIY party!

Have any of you completed an DIy projects before?
