This past weekend I went shopping on a mission to find a few things. My list included neon anything  (shoes, tops, jeans), printed maxi dresses, basic tanks, and a high low hem skirt or dress. I found my neon, my prints, and my basic tanks, but I could not find the high low hem skirt or dress.

The high low hem dress is taking the fashion world by storm. It is very versatile and can be dressed up or downn. You can either dress it up with heels or down with sneakers or flats (depending on the material and occasion). This unique hem line adds an element of surprise to your look. For those that were blessed in the booty department this style of skirt/dress is great for you. Most women that I know that are curvy have the same problem, the skirt rides up in the back. With the high low hem you do not have to worry about that problem.

During my little shopping excursion, everything I tried on was too tight, too big, or too ugly-the wrong print and color. I was getting so frustrated. My sister however was able to find a cute black high low hem dress…I was jealous but don’t tell her that lol. I went to multiple stores but the fit was all wrong or the clothes just didn’t “speak to me.”

Below you will find some great options for this unique style and they are all under $100

Solange Knowles, one of our favorite fashionistas and natural beauties, is helping us spring ahead with our spring fashion guide. In her latest fashion spread Solange shows us some of the hottest trends for spring and affordable places for you to get the looks.

Spring Trends

1. Florals- April showers bring May Flowers and as always floral prints are staples for the spring. Whether it is with a top, dress, skirt, or heels- floral prints are a spring necessity.

2. Prints- If you want to stand out then of course you want to incorporate bold prints.

3. Bold Colors- Orange, tangerines, raspberry, cobalt blue, canary yellow,- these are great colors especially when it comes to color blocking.

4. Pastels/Sorbet- creamy yellow, soft pink, lilac and lavendar, for a more subtle approach to color blocking try rocking pastels. the colors will still pop, but won’t be an overload of bright colors.

These are the basics! Stay tuned on how to take more risks this spring!

When I first saw these TopShop Metallic Leigh Jeans I was deeply in love. Ok maybe it wasn’t love but these metallic jeans are so on trend for spring. They are your standard 5-pocket skinny jeans, which are also machine washable. My favorite colors would have to be the gold and the pink.

These jeans can be worn day or night. For a day time look go with a simple top, something plain but in a contrasting color and a pair of ballet flats or sandals. For a night time look of course the shoe would be most important. Go for something in a bold color. I would pair royal blue or bright red pumps with the gold and a gold or nude pump with the pink. Instead of going with a plain t-shirt or tank, which is always an option, pair it with a softer material like silk or even chiffon. Bold statement jewelry and an evening clutch and you are ready to go.
