Ok so last week I told you all about me coloring and few hair pieces to switch up my look for fall. I dyed black peruvian human hair with Clairol Professional Classic Collection dye in 6N which is dark neutral blonde. Many people felt swindled because they thought I was going totally blonde. Honestly I had no idea that the dark neutral blonde on dark brown hair would make the hair sandy brown. Although I knew I wasn’t bleaching my hair I didn’t know what to expect. I also told you that I would be making my own hair extensions! If you don’t remember, click here. Well why the dyeing process was so easy and effortless the clip-ins were not! The gurus on YouTube make it seem like it was totally simple, but apparently I did not have the proper hair weaving needle :(, but because I’m resourceful and savvy, I made it work!

So check out how I styled my new hair and new look!

I went sporty chic with my Phillip Lim for Target BOOM Sweatshirt and my leather leggings from H&M. I carried new favorite bag from the Phillip Lim for Target collection and brought the look together with a pair of shoes that I’ve had for the last three or four years from Payless, yes don’t sleep on Payless and their shoes last.

I’m amazed at how great the color looks first because I did it myself, and second because it matches exactly to  my natural hair color. As I’ve stated in previous hair posts, my hair currently has three textures, most of my hair is relaxed, a portion of my hair is texlaxed, and then there is my new growth. My hair also has three different colors and for the Clairol Professional Classic Collection to be so versatile that it matched all three of my hair shades I’m simply blown away.

This picture captures the color so beautifully!

Remember the collection offers 16 different shades and because it is easy to use I’m sure you won’t have a problem finding the right color to fit your style needs. The process of coloring took about 10 minutes for the mixture and application and 45-minutes to process without heat. I love my new look and it’s just in time for my birthday too! How exciting is that!

New York Fashion Week is upon us and I honestly have so much on my plate with work and school that I didn’t attend as many shows as I would have liked. I’ll have a recap of my favorite shows a little later this week, but I wanted to post one of the looks that I wore this weekend. As much as I love clothes and shopping I really just put together a real simple look. I’m trying to wear my brights and neons as much as possible before the weather drastically changes. So here was my look on Saturday.

Ok so next weekend (Labor Day Weekend) I’m taking my talents to Philly. Yes I will be attending the Made in America Festival both days and I am super excited. I can’t wait to see all of the artists, eat great food, and enjoy a few libations while watching artists like 2 Chainz, Emeli Sande, Solange, Kendrick Lamar, and King Bey.

The festival has some STRICT guidelines (Click here to read) on what is permitted in the park and what’s not. There will be lots of walking and standing (chairs are not allowed). Blankets and towels are permissible, but I’m not sure how long you will be able to sit before it gets crowded and people are standing in front of you.

Anyway here are just a few looks that are comfortable and stylish for attending a music festival. Stay tuned next for my festival survival kit. I have a list of essentials that you will definitely need to survive “Made In America.”

Other options are printed pants, maxi dresses, or just your regular jeans and a tank (I didn’t want to give you outfit overload)

Stay tuned for the looks that I chose for the festival next weekend! Will any of you be there?

Lately we have been experiencing real fall weather. One day it was like 59 degrees in certain parts of NYC. That is not normal for August, but we can’t control the weather. This week we are in the high 80s (woop woop), but who knows what the weather will be like the first week of September.

If the weather cooperates and acts like it is supposed to, right now we don’t have to put all of our summer clothes away because some things can be transitioned into fall, even as late as October. One piece that was somewhat popular this summer was the sleeveless blazer. It’s not exactly a vest, it’s more sophisticated and can make any look more polished.

Here are three reasons why the sleeveless blazer is the perfect fall layering piece

Reason #1 it can be paired with your denim jacket or leather jacket for a more modern look. Leather sleeves are huge once again this fall and you can transform a denim jacket. Pair it with your favorite jeans and t-shirt and a pair of boots for a great fall look.

Sleeveless Blazer #1

Reason #2 it can be worn with your favorite work dress. This is how we can make the most of our wardrobe! Pair the sleeveless blazer with your favorite long sleeve dress and add a belt to cinch your waist.

Sleeveless Blazer #2

Reason #3 it can be paired with your favorite cardigans and sweaters. Sometimes we just need a little extra warmth and this may be the perfect piece before we  pull out our heavier jackets.

Sleeveless Blazer Look #3

You can make your own sleeveless blazer for cheap. Head to your local thrift shop or salvation army and look for a blazer either fitted or oversized (I’d go with a size or two bigger). Cut sleeves along the armhole. If you are good at hemming garments, you can hem the area you just cut or take it to the tailor to be hemmed. You can also attach the sleeves to another item for a new look! Also look for blazers of different prints and textures as well.

I’m thinking of a DIY project….what about you?

I’m here today with another What I Wore post! I’m really excited about this post because I absolutely LOVE this dress. When I saw it I said “I’m buying it, I don’t care if they have my size or not, I’ll find a way to get in it.” I went into my “crazy woman shopper” mode. I calmly walked over to the rack of dresses and searched for my size and there it was *insert cheesy smiling face here*. I love the look of mixing prints when done correctly. I struggle mixing prints myself and so I look for pieces that took care of that job for me. I never want to look like I tried to hard when it comes to my style and so most of the time I stick to what I know, so when I saw this dressed my mixed print prayers were answered.

The print is very bold and the orange is the perfect pop of color and is paired perfectly with the hint of blue/green in the dress as well. I paired with the dress that I got from Strawberry with my cream and black ankle strap sandals from Marc Fisher and a grey Rowling handbag from Just Fab.
