I love maxi dresses and skirts for the spring and summer. They are low maintenance and very comfortable. The best part about them is that you can get them in a variety of colors, prints, and fabrics. Now I think I’m getting a little too old for crop tops. I know some people may say there isn’t an age limit on croptops, but I would have to respectfully disagree. I actually own a few crop tops but I either wear them with a pair of high-waisted jeans or shorts, or a high-waisted skirt, unless I’m at the beach. Sometimes I may put on a cute cami and people are like what’s the point. As you get older your fashion focus starts to change. I try not to buy crop tops that are too cropped if you know what I mean. If it looks like it could be a bra or that my bra shows underneath, I don’t buy it. I still love the look, but I try to make it fit my style.

What to Wear: Maxi and Crop Tops

Take a look at a few maxi skirts and crop tops that I wouldn’t mind adding to my wardrobe for the warmer weather.

Hey my loves!

If you follow HerGoodyBag on any social networking site (Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, Pinterest) you would have seen the my ootd. I usually post snippets of my outfit, but I loved it so much that I had to give you the full look instantly. So here is my OOTD for Christmas Day. Check it out

I usually don’t get this dressed up on Christmas. I rarely wear jeans on holidays, but there was something special about today lol. My “maxi skirt” is actually a dress that I purchased from jc penney on Black Friday. I paired it with a v-neck black long-sleeve shirt from 6pm.com and my sequin vest by Apostrophe from Sears (now Metaphor). I finished the look with Michael Antonio zippered booties from 6pm.com and silver jewelry.

It was very windy lol

I love the cranberry color it gives off in the sunlight. In regular house lighting it looked more like oxblood, but outside my dress/skirt was more vibrant.

I had a magical Christmas and I hope you all did as well. Until next time…

As you get older you begin to mature and look at life from a different perspective. This may not be the case for everyone, but this definitely applies to my life. I have a confession to make…I used to be a binge shopper. I used to be a shopaholic. I know this is the case for many women, and some people do not even consider this a problem but it was for me.

While in college and a few years after I graduated I would spend my hard earned money on clothes and accessories. I wasn’t concerned with saving or paying any major bills because I “lived for the moment.” I would always end up at the mall and go from store to store racking up on all of the latest trends. Whenever I was going to a party or to dinner I would HAVE to buy a new outfit. Repeating looks was not my M.O. So I shopped, and I shopped, and I shopped. I would waste so much money on trends or things that I would wear only once. As I sit here and write this post, I think about all the money I could have saved and trips I could have taken if I was more responsible.

I guess this comes with growing up; you recognize your mistakes and you make better decisions. So out with the old and in with the new! I have learned to become a savvier shopper. I plan my purchases carefully. I’ve found that my wardrobe is more polished now that I plan my purchased. Before, my closet used to be filled with trends. I would have pieces that I wore once and never wanted to wear again. I would shop on impulse and end up wasting money because I would never wear some of the pieces. Now that I have a more defined style, I find buying pieces a lot easier. Also I can help my clients define their personal style and avoid making the same mistakes that I did.

Breaking my binge shopping habit was one of the best things that I could have done. My OLD ways of shopping were not healthy or productive. Now with my NEW found perspective my fashionable life is a lot less complicated.

I don’t remember the last time I did a “What I Wore”  post but this one is definitely long over due. One of my absolute favorite things to wear is a maxi skirt. They are extremely comfortable and low maintenance. They also go with just about any type of shirt. I usually pair my maxi skirt with a tank top or t-shirt, but I decided to pair it with my neon crop top that I purchased from Century 21 eons ago. I wanted to wear the shirt with a pair of high-waisted shorts or jeans, but I never found a pair that I actually liked. Then when I had on the skirt I was looking for a t-shirt and grabbed this. I was like “OMG my waist looks tiny and I have hips!” Not that I didn’t notice these things before, but with this outfit I was really able to see a figure that I didn’t know existed lol. I paired the look with jewelry that I received in a swag bag from an event a few months ago and my Via Spiga clogs. Take a closer look

This has been an interesting year when it came to fashion. There were so many trends that everyone loved, and quite a few that many hated. Here are a few of the trends that most celebs and everyday fashionistas like yourselves rocked during 2011.

Maxi Skirts

The look of the maxi skirt was originally very boho chic, but in 2011 the glam factor was definitely added. What I love most about maxi skirts are their low maintenance and high functionality. These skirts can be dressed up and paired with heels, or worn with your favorite t-shirt and gladiator sandals.

Animal Print

I wouldn’t call animal prints trendy, but many fashion gurus believe it is. I personally believe that animal prints are classic and timeless, but I’m just a lil ol’ fashion blogger. Anyway animal print made its way to many of our favorite celebs in the forms of jackets, dresses, skirts, tops, pants (thanks Lil’ Wayne), and of course shoes. I must say my animal print collection has expanded from my little zebra print cardigan and leopard print bodycon skirt tremendously.

Cut-out Dresses

Only the physically fit and sexy should have partaken in this trend. I wouldn’t dare put on a cut-out dress because of my extra baggage, so I stayed away from it lol. Celebs like Ciara wore cut-out dresses and had us wanting to run to our nearest gym for a membership! When done the proper way it is sexy, yet sophisticated.

Sky High Platforms

Christian Louboutin is known for exotic heels, but his Daffodil’s had everyone on edge. The sky high hidden platform looked a bit intimidating to the average eye, but fashionista’s all over made this their number one pick. Along with Christian Louboutin, Jessica Simpson and Jeffrey Campbell made a lot of noise with the Dany Platform (JS) and the Lita’s (JC). When I saw those shoes in various stores I was like who would wear those, but to my surprise they were very comfortable and easy to walk in. I didn’t want to jump on the Dany and Lita bandwagon because they so weren’t my style and I felt like I was only buying them because every other fashion blogger had them so I strayed away. Anyway this was the year of the sky high heel and it looks like 2012’s top trend won’t have a heel at all.

Color-Blocking

I think you would all agree when I say that color-blocking had to be the biggest trend of 2011. I mean every where you looked from young to old, famous or not, everyone was rocking this trend. It was definitely a show stopper. When rocking this trend you felt bold and beautiful. This had to be my favorite trend of the year.

What was your favorite trend?
