Fashion Director Karen Kozlowski gives her expert advice in an interview with Lloyd Boston. This is what Kozlowski had to say about developing your personal style:
1. What are the three fashion essentials every well-dressed woman should own?
- The best-quality black suit
- A neutral colored cashmere sweater (turtle or crewneck)
- Simple black shift dress
Kozlowski says all these are timeless pieces that can be worn at least three season and can be dressed up or down, and updated with a simple switch of accessories.
2. What are the biggest mistakes women make when getting dressed?
- Wearing clothes that don’t fit properly! A size 8 in one brand is not necessarily going to be the same in another. Try everything on and if you’re between sizes, conserd taking the garment ot a tailor who can fit it correctly
3. If you could whisper a fail-safe style tip into the ears of women everywhere, withouot them feeling bad by hearing it, what would it be?
- Stop trying to cover perceived body flaws with ill-fitting clothing. Of course nothing looks good on everyone but there are cuts and styles of clothing that work with everyone’s particular bodoy shapes. And it is all about using color, pattern, and proportion to give you the most streamlined, flattering silhouette. Don’t hide under oversized clothing-embellish and embrace your shape!
