My birthday was FABULOUS! When I first got to work I was in a good mood until I got a coverage….I hate coverages! Anyway, during my free period some of my students surprised me  and one of them baked me a cake with her mom! It was a homemade carrot cake with pink cream cheese frosting. It was DELICIOUS (Thanks Krystyna)

One of my other students brought me a muffin from DunkinDonuts with 3 candles and my co-workers got me a carrot cake. I also had a strawberry and red velvet ice cream cake from Cold Stone. My niece and my sister’s God son helped me blow out the candles. It was so cute lol. After all of the cake I went out with a few friends and my brother and sister. We had a great time, here are a few pics

These two were violating club rules…I was trying to collect my $20 I’m not sure what Shelly and my brother were doing but this pic is hilarious. Sorry Ian and Chanell for messing up your “special moment” lol

Saturday night was dinner at El Quijote in Chelsea…sorry I was rushing and forgot my camera 🙁 Dinner was fantastic. Overall, I had a great weekend! Thanks to all who made it special.

Over the weekend the internet was seriously a major wreck! Supposedly, Maya Angelou was hospitalized for reasons not stated. Apparently she is doing fine and will be speaking at a number of events this week. Lets kick off our work week with some motivational words from Maya Angelou

Yes today is my birthday! I am 2___ years old lol. I am just so blessed and I thank God for allowing me to see another year. Each year I grow older, I become wiser and stronger and I thank God for allowing me to have one more year with my great family, friends, sorors and frat. I am truly blessed. I have a great career, wonderful HGB supporters, and just an overall fulfilling life.

My birthday weekend festivities began last night at Negril Village (pic above) for Kel Spencers video premiere for “Uggs to Hugs” the first single off of the “Salon Stories Album”  Hosted by MC Lyte! I will post the pics next week because I am going to party HARD!!

Love You All! Stay Sweet!

derrion

16-year old honor student, Derrion Albert was fatally beaten last week and the attack was caught on video. I can’t even bring myself to watch the video. It took a lot for me to even read an article about this situation. This is just depressing. When will the non-sense end? Why must our kids be afraid to go to school because they feel they may be attacked next? What are parents doing? What are school officials doing? What are community leaders doing? Who asks to be beaten to death with a 2 x 4 piece of ply wood? Who asks to be stomped out? No one does. No one deserves to die these horrific deaths. I know life is not fair, but when it comes to children and teens my heart just gets weak. Derrion Albert represents one of the FEW positive young black males who had goals and dreams and his life was taken away because of senseless violence. Don’t they realize that majority of OUR men are locked up! We didn’t only lose Derrion, we lost his 4 attackers to the prison system (I pray they can be rehabilitated). There really isn’t much more for me to say except P.U.S.H Pray Until Something Happens. This world has got to get better, for us and our children. My heart goes out to the family and friends of Derrion Albert, you are in my prayers.

Words of encouragement for the start of a wonderful work week!
