President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama

Well President Obama’s 2nd term has officially begun and what better way to end the celebration by recapping the fabulous style from the festivities. Take a look at some of the Style Highlights from the 57th Presidential Inauguration.

Inauguration1

First Lady Michelle Obama looked stunning in this custom made Thom Browne. Browne is typically a Menswear designer, but I’m sure that will change. He designed this one of a kind coat for the First Lady and was inspired by the print of a man’s silk tie. She wore J. Crew gloves and Reed Krakoff boots during the outside ceremony. Sasha wore Kate Spade and Malia wore J. Crew. The blues and purples reigned supreme for the first family.

And one of my other favorite power couples, Jay-z and Beyonce looked amazing as well. Mr. Carter wore a Tom Ford suit and Mrs. Carter wore and Emilio Pucci gown as she SAAANNNGGG the National Anthem.

Inauguration3

And the anticipation for the President and First Lady’s entrance at the Inaugural Ball had me on the edge of my seat. I saw quite a few sketches of gowns that were designed for this special event, but I had no clue to what her choice would be. President Obama looked very dapper, but let’s face it…it was all about the First Lady. She wore a ruby Jason Wu chiffon and velvet gown. Like the saying goes…if it’s not broke, don’t fix it. Jason Wu designed her gown for the 2009 Inauguration Ball and this year he did not disappoint the First Lady. She also wore Jimmy Choo shoes and a handmade diamond ring by Kimberly McDonald. Many people were shocked and some were upset that she chose to go with Jason Wu for a 2nd time. They felt she should have chosen a different designer to “spread the love.” I think she made an excellent choice. You do not know what the other dresses looked like and she went with what she felt was the best choice. Bottom line, she looked stunning!

Inauguration4

Alicia Keys wore a red Michael Kors gown and can we talk about Jennifer Hudson’s waist in this black gown? I’m starting my workout routine tomorrow!

Inauguration2

Check out Eva Longoria’s salmon colored coat and I LOVE the bow detail on Dr. Jill Biden’s coat as well. These are other photos from the weekend’s festivities.

What did you think about the style of the 57th Presidential Inauguration?

Rihanna was spotted attending her Grandmother Dolly’s funeral in Barbados today wearing a pair of Tom Ford Chain Ankle Strap Wedges.  She paired the wedges with a simple black dress for a very tasteful and chic look.

Beyonce was spotted wearing the same wedges last month while out to dinner with Jay-Z in Paris.   Beyonce opted for more of a edgy/rocker chic look by paring the wedges with a red blazer and black leather skinnies.

These sexy, sculpted wedges by Tom Ford boast a 5″ heel and gold chain trimmed ankle straps.  I WANT!!!

So, Ladies…. who wore them better???

As we all know the annual BET Awards were yesterday.  I typically don’t watch the BET Awards simply due to the fact that they are usually poorly run, most of the “A” list celebrities never show up and the red carpet is usually rather boring and ratchet  – however, this year I decided to tune in because I heard Jay-Z and Beyonce were coming! Let’s be honest…if Jay and Bey are coming than there must be something to watch….lol

Anyways, I was pleasantly surprised by the BET Awards this year.  A lot of celebrities showed up, the performances were great and most importantly (to me at least) it seemed like most attendees really stepped up their fashion game.  Of course some people don’t ever seem to get it right in the style category…but we will let that slide….

I was happy to see that the ladies really broke away from the typical black gowns and opted for dresses/looks in more colorful and bright hues.  Bold and bright colors always look amazing on brown skin :).  Yellow seemed to be the color of choice this year and those who wore it, wore it right.

Let’s get into some of the looks from last night…

I couldn’t locate a full picture of Rocsi’s look but I thought she looked really good.  I love the dress, hair and makeup….kudos to her getting it right, we see you Rocsi.

Tatyana Ali looked cute in a yellow peplum skirt.  I could have done without the white pumps but overall I think she looks good and everything fits well.

Wendy Raquel Robinson looked stunning in a cut-out BCBG gown. Loving this look on her.

YES, BRANDY!!!!  I absolutely loved Brandy’s look (she was actually one of my favorites).  I know she didn’t go with the standard gown look, however I think her outfit choice (as well as hair and makeup) is perfect. She looks FLAWLESS.

I was happy to see Beyonce there, however I can’t say the same thing about her outfit choice.  Bey has an amazing figure and I feel like this dress did nothing for her (too much fabric not enough Bey!).  Of course Beyonce always looks gorgeous just not a big fan of the dress.

Elle Varner looked colorful in her long-sleeved sequin gown.  I am torn on the dress – I want to love it but I am not sure how I feel about it – the jury is still out on this one!

Faith Evans kept it casual and cute in leopard skinny pants.  I actually like Faith’s look however I do think it’s a tad too casual for an awards show.  Nonetheless, good job.

Flo Rida & Melyssa Ford showed up together lookin’ sharp in white ensembles.

Jay-Z and Kanye.  Not much to see here – I’m glad to see Jay retired the timbs for one night. 🙂

LaLa looked nice in a glittery jumpsuit paired with a metallic belt and platform sandals.

Selita Ebanks rocked a  dress from the Falguni & Shane Peacock Spring 2012 collection.  Selita was the best dressed to me.  The dress is gorgeous, from the color palette to the detailed bead work and the sheer bottom it breathes elegance and femininity.

Hosea Chanchez arrived in an interesting look.  I love the color of the suit and the leopard shoes ( one of my favorite pattern/color combos is cobalt blue and leopard).

2 Chainz did what he did….don’t have much commentary on this get up. Love his music though! 🙂

Big Sean….showed a little skin in his all black ensemble. As far as I’m concerned, he can do no wrong….he’s just so adorable and his style works for him.

Busta Rhymes found the timbs Jay-Z decided not to wear.  Nothing much to see here folks.  Typical Busta.

Lauren London

Does Letoya Luckett age?? Seriously???  Letoya looked beautiful in this yellow, tulle gown. Flawless.

Lola Monroe looked like a modern day Greek goddess in her one arm peach gown and gold head chain.  I loved her entire look.

Taraji P. Henson

Trey Songz looked ready for Fall in his purple leather.  I don’t know what LA’s weather is lookin’ like right now, but it is entirely too hot at the moment to wear any type of leather in NYC.

Tamar Braxton love’s her some tulle…no one can argue with that.

Willow Smith.

Swizz Beats looked dope in bright, patterned Givenchy pants paired with white shoes and a white top.  He was actually my best dressed male.  I know the pants are a bit much…but I love them and I loved the way he is styled.

Nicki Minaj toned it down this time around – this is a good look for her.

Monica & Shannon Brown.  I love these 2 together.

Melanie Fiona opted for all black with a body chain.  Nothing extraordinary but she definitely looks good….just a little safe.

Meagan Good arrived looking darling in all white.  I love her outfit and hair choice….very classy yet sexy (in a wholesome way..lol).  She definitely has that “I just got married” glow.  Beautiful.

What did you guys think of the BET Awards, and who was your best and worst dressed???

Beyoncé was spotted out for dinner with hubby Jay-Z earlier this week at Caviar Kaspia in Paris.

Beyoncé looked amazing in a $868 DSquared2 Red Smoking Blazer, $895 J Brand Super Skinny Leather Leggings, a pair of  $1,290 Tom Ford Black Leather Wedges and finished off her look with a $525 Alexander McQueen De-Manta Tiger Print Clutch.

Are you guys feeling B’s look?

Beyonce Look for Less

King Bey was spotted in Paris with hubby Jay-Z and Blue Ivy looking A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. The pink pants, printed blouse, and nude pumps were perfectly paired together. When I saw this look I said “I need some pink pants!” This look is so hot. I love pairing bold prints with bold colors because your look is taken to the next level instantly. This is a perfect spring/summer look for work if your place of employment is not too conservative. You can also rock this look to lunch, a matinee on broadway, or even church. Here are some options of pink pants below and they are all under $100.
