On this blog I try to cover all aspects fashion and now that I am moving into a new direction professionally I need to take my style up another notch. So for this new feature I will focus mainly on professional attire for those who work in fields that are a little more restricting when it comes to fashion. Although I am a teacher and in public schools there is no dress code, I think some people are a little too relaxed. I even make my students dress up for presentations to get them ready for interviews, college fairs, and the professional world in general. I am in professional attire Monday-Thursday and Friday is my casual day. So I would dress up a pair of my jeans.

This year I have been revamping my professional attire and one of the first places that I went to transform my wardrobe was New York and Company. I would shop at NY and Company occasionally, but I am in there quite frequently now. They also give teachers discounts, which is totally amazing. I’m thinking of putting together a lookbook of all of my pieces from the store, because I own quite a few. Anyway, back to the subject at hand, here are a few pieces that I have had my eye on to continue to build my professional wardrobe. These pieces are from their NY @ Work Collection. Although many of their pieces can be worn in the work place I figured I start with this collection. Check them out

Hello my loves!

There seems to be a new trend on the rise…The Cat Obsession! Forever 21 released there Batman and Cat woman collection recently, but it seems like this trend is taking the fashion world by storm….purrrrrfect (sorry I had to do it lol).

Check out a few of my favorite pieces on how to incorporate this trend, if you choose, into your wardrobe. Halloween is right around the corner so these options may make for a great costume!

Ok I have a confession to make. I still have most, if not all, of my summer clothes in my closet. I know that fall arrived a few weeks ago, but the weather has been marvelous! I mean the weather has been in the 80s…I am not wearing a sweater in 80 degree weather. The temperature drastically changed over the weekend and I found myself scrambling for long sleeved shirts, cardigans, and scarves and most of those are packed away.

I have been in the stores quite a bit. I took a little hiatus from shopping but August-October I have definitely exceeded my shopping budget. Anyway, if you haven’t started your fall shopping, you may want to know what the “IT” colors are for the season. In my honest opinion, for fall you can never go wrong with navy, burgundy, jewel tones, or forest green, in addition to your neutrals (black, white, and grey). This season Pantone’s color report falls in line with “the usuals.” Take a look at the full color report.

I think I am most excited about acai, vivacious, koi, samba, and mykonos blue. I LOVE color and most of the pieces that I have been purchasing align with what the color experts suggest.

Of course, just because these are the “IT” colors doesn’t mean you have to purchase anything in this color. You buy what compliments your skin tone first and foremost. Use this guide as a starting point if you are unsure of how to incorporate color in your wardrobe, or if you want to try something new.

I remember the last time I went to Kohl’s I said I’m not coming back for a while because they take all of my money. I would spend a certain amount and get Kohl’s Cash and would have a week to spend it so I would be back in Kohl’s earning more and spending more. It was definitely a vicious cycle and that was before I had any self control lol. Now I think I have a reason to go back besides the Daisy Fuentes Collection, Elle Collection, and Jennifer Lopez Collection, Kohl’s now has a collection with one of my favorite designers, Catherine Malandrino. I always love to see her show during Fashion Week because it is definitely refreshing and . I always said in my next life when I’m a millionaire I will probably have a closet full of her pieces, well now I can make that dream come true even if I’m far from being a millionaire.

Catherine Malandrino recently released a collection with one of my favorite retailers Kohl’s and the collection is definitely worth the drive to Rego Center Mall (the place with the nearest Kohl’s). Take a look at the collection

They are currently having a sale with everything 25% off so you may want to head to your nearest Kohl’s or shop online by clicking here
