When Fashion And Art Collide
TollaCole’s New York Fashion Week Debut
New York, NY – Feathers, chiffon and bold colors summarize TollaCole’s SS12 fashion week debut, which was held presentation style at Waterhouse and Dodd International Art Dealers in Soho, on Monday, September 12, 2011. TollaCole gowns stood alongside Justine Smith installations, both of which captivated.
Attendees arrived to models scattered throughout the gallery in gowns of various of lengths, hues and fabrications, paired with shoes provided by Payless ShoeSource and gorgeous accessories by She’Luxe Couture (www.sheluxecouture.com), which perfectly complimented TollaCole’s feather adorned frocks. Guests raved about appetizers by “Sano Catering by Michael Scipione” (www.livethesanolifestyle.com/bio.html).
Carolyn Levering, a representative from the National Marfan Foundation, spoke briefly about Marfan’s Syndrome, which took the life of Atoia’s cousin. She addressed ways to diagnose the disorder and NMF, which is the only voluntary health organization dedicated to support education and research on this condition (www.marfan.org).
TollaCole is for the woman that seeks the traditional gown, with an embellished twist. “The TollaCole woman is someone who loves to be beautiful and feminine, and isn’t afraid to take risks with her attire.” With TollaCole’s presentation comes the next in eveningwear. “My heavier pieces are not meant for everyday wear. They are better suited to events where evening attire is required, but creativity is encouraged.” TollaCole gowns will be available for purchase via online boutique at September’s end.
Special thanks to our additional show sponsors: Heidi D. Cosmetics, the amazing makeup team TEJA Collective, IZZE Fruit Juice, Pretzel Crisp, DBG Model Management, Painted Faces Model Management and UniiQe Impact Productions, as their contributions made for a successful event!

I wasn’t familiar with the brand N:F:P or the designer, or clothing engineer, Gail Travis, but I am so excited that I attended this show. I have seen transformational garments before, but the way these garments transformed was just phenomenal and effortless. I was in awe the entire time watching the show taking notes on what pieces I wanted to add to my wardrobe. Gail is definitely an engineer the way she turned a floor length cardigan in to a cropped jacket or how she managed to make a sweater dress in to a cropped top without a bulky look. I was truly amazed. I loved how the knits complimented softer fabrics like chiffon and the muted color palette.
Artist, Megan Morrison, was also at the show creating portraits for a few of the guest. Unfortunately I was unable to stay for my portrait, but here is Shnieka from Hats, Heels and Handbags.

Valentin Vettori’s Spring 2012 collection for IMPROVD was a great mix of feminine pieces with hard leather accents. The collection represents a bold and powerful woman. The main color motifs were black, grey, various shades of blue, and red. This isn’t your traditional color palette for a spring collecton and Valentin Vettori isn’t your traditional designer. He always manages to capture the boldness and strength of a woman in an unconventional manner.

Sorry for the delay in posts! Fashion week was so much fun, but ridiculously insane! This was also my first full week back to work. I was drained mentally and physically hence the lack of posts, but I am back. So this is one of my looks that I rocked during New York Fashion Week. I believe this was Day 3 or Day 4 I am not completely sure. I attended the Honor by Giovanna Randall and Venexiana shows. After the Venexiana show myself along with a few of my blogging buddies attended a party for Tracee Ellis Ross hosted by Essence.com at Shun Lee. I was featured in their Street Style section and was super excited.
Here is a photo of my complete look at Lincoln Center
My entire outfit (except the shoes) came from H & M. I actually bought my leopard print pumps from Sears about a month ago.

The Cupid Shuffle brought everyone to the dance floor.

I love the color palett that we have going on!
Kitty of Kitty Bradshaw.com, Makeda, and Melissa once again.
If it wasn’t for Kitty and Melissa I would have been home at 6pm after my last show, but we walked to the CND Shellac Manicure truck, which was closed, then met up with Nikki of Osei Pr and Teena Leone of Fashion for Breakfast and had lunch. I was ready to go home but Kitty was like girl you better stay and network, which is how I got a chance to meet Makeda and a few other bloggers. After the shows we headed to Shun Lee and had a blast! So thank you to Kitty and Melissa for a great time and a great fashion week!
