Tibi’s Fall 2012 was definitely inspired by menswear. Everything from the makeup to the hair, there was a very masculine feel with a touch of femininity. Most of the colors in the collection were very subtle-black, white, grey plaid, but there were a few pieces that stood out like the metallic green pencil skirt, and cobalt blue pants and sweater. Tibi also had an interesting bird motif on pants, tops, and peplum skirts. There was also the use of geometric prints on pants and sheath dresses. The collection has a minimalist, masculine feel, but there are some elements of pizazz. Take a look at the collection.

If  I could describe Rebecca Minkoff’s Fall 2012 collection in two words it would be TEXTURE and PRINT. Texture ruled the runway for Minkoff this season and it was phenomenal. From brocade biker jackets, to sequins pants and tops Rebecca Minkoff found a way to incorporate texture in to our everyday wardrobes. Not only will we be able to turn heads in fabulous brocade suits, but also fabulous prints. Snakeskin sleeved jackets, black and gold pinstripe blouses, and black and white printed pants, Rebecca Minkoff chose eye catching prints for classic silhouettes. She put a new spin on the t-shirt making it fall appropriate using shearling. What’s a Rebecca Minkoff collection without a bomber jacket? Exactly she just elevated the elements of her traditional repertoire with new prints and texture. Her use of color was also phenomenal. The hues included jewel tones, pops of red, orange, yellow, and blue-for those more bold and daring. She had also incorporated mustard, burgundy, rust, and plum for more of a subtle effect. Color-blocking will be kept alive Fall 2012 because of Max and Lubov Azria. The BCBG collection consisted of simple silhouettes and soft feminine fabrics that gave this season a very romantic feel. From the deep Vs to the pleats, the collection was subtle and simple in design, but the punch came with the bold use of color and luxurious outerwear. The dresses were modern in shape but the use of color is what grabbed the attention of many. Teal, yellow, cobalt, cranberry, were only a few of the hues seen on the BCBG runway. One aspect of the collection, which one would find odd is the absence of sweaters-it is a fall collection- but the outerwear created by Max and Lubov was so intricate and lavish that sweaters weren’t really needed. The leather trenches and fur sleeves will surely keep you warm when you wear the mid-length color-blocking frocks which have become a staple many of the BCBG collections for the past few seasons. Gwen Stefani knows how to translate great fashion for the everyday woman. Her pieces are always practical yet intricate enough to cause a buzz and stir in the office or on the street. For her Fall 2012 collection, she played with floral prints and houndstooth pairing the two with bright yellows and pinks. She put a modern spin on such classic pieces like the little black dress with sulfur green piping, crew neck sweaters  with “Punk” written across the chest in bold colors and houndstooth print on the sleeves. She continued to show the world that she is still a fashionable rebel. Her collection had pieces for the ultra feminine with flared mini-skirts and pants and jumpsuits that were a bit more masculine. Today is the first day of Fashion Week for Fall/Winter 2012. Many fashionistas, celebrities, editors, photographers, bloggers, stylists, designers and a host of others will be hitting the streets of New York. From attending shows at Lincoln Center or locations off-site, to visiting some of the hottest press lounges, mixers, and after parties, this week will definitely be one to remember.

I am looking forward to all of the awesome parties and fabulous street style, and all of the runway shows, but here are 5 designers that I am looking forward to seeing what they have in store for us for the Fall.

1.Tracy Reese– her Spring/Summer 2012 collection included fun prints and bright colors

2. Rachel Roy I love how she transforms masculine silhouettes in a feminine way

3. Kort Momolu She has been one of my favorite designers since Project Runway. I love her fearless use of bold colors

4. L.A.M.B. Gwen Stefani is one of the few singers turned designers who’s clothing has real style. Her line can be edgy, sophisticated, and a little romantic. I can’t wait to see what she brings.

5. Michael Kors Do I really need to say why when it comes to MK? He’s legendary and his designs are timeless.

I had to narrow my choices down to five but here is my list of honorable mentions

Carolina Herrera, Joy Cioci, Victoria Beckham, Lela Rose, and Alexander Wang
