We all know that Nicki Minaj has made some very unique and interesting fashion choices. She’s worn every color hair that you could possibly imagined, tutus, teddy bear sneakers, and ice cream cones. It was a point in time when her look was more like a gimmick and she lacked authenticity. She wanted to breakaway from the Lil Kim comparisons (which have died down significantly) and create her own persona. In the midst of creating that persona she was accused of copying Lady Gaga, Madonna, and others.

So fast forward a few years later and we are now looking at a new, and dare I say, more refined Nicki Minaj! Take a look at her cover and spread in Marie Claire magazine

She has been looking AMAZING lately. I love the fresh face and simple hairstyles. You really get to see how beautiful she is without peeling away so many layers.

It’s no surprise that the black and white color combination is still “trending.” This weekend celebs like Ciara, Trey Songz, and Bridget Kelly showed why this look will forever be a classic.

Bridget Kelly’s look is simple and chis. Her black top, statement necklace and white pencil skirt is complimented by mint green strappy sandals. This is the perfect way to add color to your look without feeling overwhelmed.

Ciara’s fresh face and blonde tresses compliment this classic black and white dress. It covers enough to keep the look classy, yet it shows off her best assets, those killer legs!

Trey Songz kept it cool in a black and white graphic print t-shirt and black jeans. Sometimes guys “do the most” but Trey is definitely in style and that awesome smile is just the icing on the cake.

I was doing some online browsing and came across quite a few maxi dresses that I really liked. I already own quite a few, but I thought one or two additions wouldn’t hurt. Then I thought about a post on wearing a maxi dress to work and thought, well is it appropriate. My job is pretty relaxed and people wear just about anything (even t-shirts with holes smh) but no one really wears maxis.

Maxi dresses come in a variety of prints, patterns, styles and colors. The only commonality is the fact that they are ankle length or floor length. Some are extremely form fitting, others are more loose. Some expose your bare back, while others provide full coverage. Some are strapless, one-shoulder, or even halter.

I’ve seen women pair their maxi dresses with a blazer or cardigan to make it appropriate for the office. Some also layer t-shirts, crew necks, and vests. The you have the women who do not care at all and have everything hanging out. Depending on the culture of your work place, are maxi dresses work appropriate?

M.Y.O.B. Mind your own business. This is something that I struggle with. It’s not that I am always in someone’s business. I wouldn’t call myself nosey, but I will say that I am overly concerned with other people’s issues and I begin to worry. I don’t know why I do this, and it’s not because I’m compassionate, I just get caught up thinking about other people. This is something that I am really starting to struggle with at this point in my life. I worry about other people’s opinions and situations and it doesn’t even concern me. I don’t meddle in conflicts, but I just mainly ask the question why?

My family and friends always tell me to focus on my own situations and goals and forget about what doesn’t concern me. This is something that I am working on, but it is hard! I just can’t fathom why people make certain decisions, and I’m sure people feel the same about me, but I’m just like why?!?!?!?!? It’s not like I’m the most rational person at all times, but I get so caught up in the business of others that I lose focus.

1 Thessalonians 4:11 says “And to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you”

Over the last week I have been constantly saying to myself, don’t worry about what people are doing. Don’t worry about what  people are thinking. Don’t worry about what people are saying. Everything that I am “concerned” about is trivial and has nothing to do with me. So for those of you in my situation to heed to my advice as I will practice what I preach and MYOB.

Who doesn’t love a great wedge? I know that I do because wedges are extremely comfortable. These mint green suede shoes are perfect for the summer. The color makes it feminine enough to wear flirty dresses and the studs and cutouts give it a little bit of edge.
