Archives for October 2012

Brandy is definitely in the running for one of the best dressed celebs of 2012. I mean two consecutive Get The Looks on HGB is not easy to achieve lol. She was spotted doing more promo for her album Two Eleven rocking a leopard print crewneck, black leather cap, boyfriend jeans and leather boots. This look is so simple but hot. It goes to show you how a bold print can take your look up a notch. Below you will find some affordable options to recreate this look.

It’s that time of the year again-homecoming!!!! Homecoming is one of the most exciting times of the year on any college campus. During homecoming you get to have great food and catch up with people that you haven’t seen in years. You also get to tour the campus, chill at the parade, and much more. One of the most important events during homecoming is the football game. You get to tailgate and just enjoy great company. Some people that show up to the game just look out of place because they are not dressed for the occasion. You can be comfortable and chic without looking like you are going to the club, unless that’s the look you are going for.  Some people love to wear their school’s para, but if that’s not your thing I created four different looks that are definitely homecoming approved.

 “First say to yourself what you would be; then do what you have to do.” Epictetus

One thing that prevents a person from achieving their goal(s) is the fear of moving forward. We often resort to staying in the past because  it provides a level of comfort. We are afraid to face our fears of the future because we have no control over it. Yes it would be great for us to plan our lives to the t, but that is not how God works. In life we must progress and that requires change. Change is the only constant in life and without change where would we be? Progression indicates movement toward achieving that goal. We were not put here to remain stagnant.

Progression and growth are positive forms of movement. Remember just because you are moving doesn’t mean that you are moving forward. Staying in the past really does not have any benefit. The purpose of your past is to learn from mistakes and to cultivate your future. If you stay in the same place you will be left far behind. Progression can be applied to all areas of your life whether it be socially, spiritually, emotionally, financially, etc. You shouldn’t be in the same place where you were at this time last year.

Change is a process but every little step counts. Look at your life now and envision where you want to be later on in life. Are you taking the steps toward reaching that goal? If not, it is time to move forward.

Isaiah 43:18-19
“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.

See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the desert
and streams in the wasteland.” (NIV)

Brandy has been on the move lately promoting her new album “Two Eleven.” She was spotted rocking a Markus Lupfer Sequin Lips sweater which retails for $484, Black and White striped Motel Jordan Jeans which retails for $90 and $1,095 Giambattista Valli Moto Boots.

This look works well for Brandy. It’s great to see when celebs who are normally in sky high heels toned down a bit with a more casual look. You can get Brandy’s look below along with some more affordable options.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and it is all about Pink! About 1 in 8 U.S. women (just under 12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime (source). My grandmother passed away from breast cancer when my mom was 12, so I never got a chance to meet her. My aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, but I am glad to say that she is cancer free today! So today’s Color Coded post is all about PINK. Below you will find some great pieces in this bold and vibrant color. So let’s continue to fight and find a cure for this disease that plagues so many.
