HGB LookBook: Homecoming Cabaret

So we are now in full swing for homecoming season for many of the HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities). I attended the FIRST HBCU, Lincoln University of Pennsylvania. Anyone that has gone to an HBCU knows the importance homecoming. This is when most of the best parties and cabarets take place, comedy shows, football games and pep rally, fashion shows, step shows, carnivals and concerts (well that’s how we got down at Lincoln)

When I was in undergrad, we would go home just to get new outfits for homecoming because this is the time ofyear where everyone gets “fly.” All of the alumni and their families and current students family and friends come for a week or weekend of fun. So Lincoln’s homecoming is the last week of October so I have been getting quite a few requests for various looks to rock during homecoming. So this post is the first of many posts to come for the next few weeks for homecoming outfit inspirations.

So this post is geared toward the Homecoming Cabaret, which is for the alumni. I don’t go to the on-campus parties anymore because I feel I am a little too old. At 26 I shouldn’t be in a gym full of 16-21 year olds, and the younger crowd is more prone to fighting while us “old-heads” just want to party and have fun. When going to the cabaret you must look your best. Guys put on their suits and ladies step out in fly dresses and heels. If you wear jeans and a t-shirt with boots, sneakers, or flats, you will look out of place.
